i’m stuck on this forum!  so glad i found you all here.  none of my family or friends are rabbit slaves and so it’s very nice to have found a friendly place for great information and like-rabbit-minds.  i should be working (and i WILL get at it) but i’d rather be playing with or reading about… bunnies!

i found my first bunny in a pet store while looking for a pet rat.  binky ran the length of his cage whenever i walked by & completely stole my heart.  knowing what i know now about rabbits for pets i’m sorry that i supported a pet store for this instead of finding a bun at my humane society.  i understand how easily rabbits are given up when purchased this way… the store owner hadn’t a clue about rabbit care.  still, i’m glad i found binky… boy did i love that little bun!

how / when did you all become rabbit slaves?

I’m so glad to be here too! Rabbit lovers are the best.

I also had my heart stolen by a bunny boy named Henry that was being babysat by my friend for another friend. He brought Henry out from his room briefly and all it took was 5 minutes of seeing him hop around contentedly, curiously standing on his hind legs to get a better view, and wiggling his bunny nose to totally enchant me! For two weeks after that day all I could think about was getting a bun for my own – and the quest was on! I researched in depth everything that rabbit ownership required and began looking at all my local shelters as well as on Craigslist and Petfinder. I eventually found a Chinese dude selling a bunny on Craigslist for $25, cage and supplies included for another $25 (He bought a pet-shop rabbit only to find that his new pet was pregnant and wound up with many more buns than he had anticipated!).

After Vicky, I found her a companion from the Fairfax Humane Society!

i can relate to the addiciton thing — i always check the forums before i check my email, just to see what people are up to and if i can learn anything! I’m also on here at work, school, home, and one time in the parking lot of a starbucks ( i was waiting for my friend to get off work to pick her up! lol!)I have also found this forum to be more friendly and inviting and most importantly informative than any other rabbit forum that i found on the internet. i feel like i can ask anything here and not be looked upon as a “newbie”.

Lulla’s story is on my profile — but in a nutshell i bought her from a petstore that was going to euthanize her due to cost of buying already altered rabbits rather than alterning the ones they had.

i’m also searching around for another bunny face for lulla

All I can say is congratulations! You’ve joined the rest of the ranks of us that spend a lot of time here because we just love it! I am very happy that all of you are enjoying having a place to hang out, talk about being bunny slaves, ask questions in a friendly community and know that we all are learning something new every day! No one should ever be singled out as a "newbie." The whole intent of this site is to learn and share and my word if we intimidated you, it would defeat the purpose of even having this site.  So, in a nut shell thank you! You are all what makes this site so great!  Of course hats off to BinkyBunny for thinking of and creating this place!

I too am a Binky Bunny addict! I’m glad to be part of such a great forum! My bunny addiction story:

I always LOVED all animals and always had cats and some other critter (guinea pigs and hamsters) at home with my parents. When my bf and I bought a house we discussed getting a dog but after lots of debate decided against it. Ricky said I could have any “little critter” I wanted cuz I missed having g-pigs but I decided on a bunny. I as well didn’t realize buying a pet store bunny was a huge faux-pas. I went to a few pet stores in the area and found my little Stormy. Ricky didn’t like his coat colour but I did cuz he was unique like me! As soon as I brought him home, I was desperately a bunny addict! I learned all I could about them and was totally in love with them from then on. I’m so glad Stormy opened me the window to this great bunny filled world!
