My 2 year old rabbit was his normal self until tonight when I gave him his 2nd round of dry food.
he has been laying in his litter box not eating. Ears feel cool. He is an indoor rabbit. He has been laying flat on his belly.
I got him to move around but still not eating and went back in his litter box.

Last night my daughter accidentally dropped a piece of construction paper in his pen and it had Elmer’s school washable glue on it. She said he ate a small piece .

        could this effect him?

I do recall him doing this once before a year ago when we had a wind storm and he was scared.

our heat his now on because of the cold weather and you can hear it run not sure what if that would do it

It sounds like it could be gas. At least our bunnies usually lay flat like that when they have gas. Its good to get him to move around, as it can help it work through his tummy.

Is he eating ok? Thats also usually another sign if he is not.

Do you have simethicone drops on hand? You can find them in the baby section of most grocery/department stores and they are safe for buns. They usually work wonders for gas.

All that being said, if he has had this behavior before, he could possibly just be nervous with the new furnace sounds. 🙂 Buns tend to lay in their litter box more when nervous/unwell because their smell is comforting to them.

But definitely monitor his food intake/poop output right now to watch for any signs of gas that could be going on inside. 🙂

I agree it sounds like gas. Try to get him to move, it helps gas move through. Be gentle but firm, he should move some every 20 minutes or so until this passes.

You can give simethicone baby gas drops. 1 ml first, then O.5 ml of whatever strenght you can get (tends to be 20-40%).

Don’t force food. Water can be given but no more than 2 ml per 1-2 hours. Both food and water can be harmful if there’s an obstruction.

If it doesn’t resolve he needs vet attention.

              Thank you so much!
i ended up going to bed and I heard him in the middle of the night playing with his ball .
when I woke up the next morning he was acting his normal self! Food gone and water almost gone

              I was so relieved!!!
and he still is his normal self.
I get nervous because I lost 2 bunnies within a year apart. This bunny is my baby and he is such a good bunny!

Yaaay! Probably gas then, when it gets out buns tend to just snap back immediately, like nothing even happened.

It’s very scary for the human though. I think most of us bun parents suffer from some degree of bun-induced PTSD.
