Hello! I am new to this site and am glad that I joined so I can get questions answered from experienced bunny owners!

Anyway, I had a question of whether I can paint in my room where the bunnies stay or if I should paint elsewhere? I am painting with acrylic paint on a project I’m trying to finish for mothers day and just wanted to know if it was safe for bunnies to be around the paint or not. I don’t think acrylic paint has fumes but i know animals can smell things that us humans cannot!

        Thanks so much!

          Hi There
There should be no issue as long as there are no fumes and the room has great air circulation. If you are still concerned, maybe you can move them out of your room while you paint like put them in the bathroom for a playdate and then you can paint in your room.

It’s really awesome that you consider your bunnies in this! You’re a great owner (or should I say bunny slave? )

Solvents can become a problem for painters with pets: rabbits have very sensitive respiratory systems and this makes them prone to asthma-like symptoms. They react strongly to volatile chemicals. This is a must-know for people who use spray paints and oil paint which has to be diluted by turpentine. Most acrylic paints use water as a solvent, so that shouldn’t be a problem. For more information you could always ask your supplier.
Of course it’s also important that they won’t get into your painting kit, as many of the pigments contain heavy metal compounds and other possibly toxic substances. Make sure you don’t have paint residues on your skin or clothing before interacting with your bunnies, because they’ll ingest the paint if it gets into their fur.

Best prepare for getting some bunny fur in your paintings as they dry. We all know how that stuff floats around like magic fairy dust. Or get artsy, and call it your signature style I’d love to see some of your art if you feel up to it, we have a lot of crafty folks on here and there’s an arts and crafts topic in the Lounge subforum. Feel free to share ^_^

Thank you guys for the advice! I let them out and run around in their playpen in a different while I painted. I didn’t want to risk anything!

Well, I’m not too artsy but thank you! I only really buy wood from shops and then paint and stencil stuff on it. But maybe I will put some pictures of some of my stuff on there! Thanks!
