        I think this is wonderful.

NARI THE DOLPHIN RECOVERS AFTER SHARK ATTACK

A dolphin, popular with Moreton Island tourists in south-east Queensland, is recovering at a theme park on the Gold Coast after surgery for a shark bite.

The 12-year-old male called Nari has been hand fed at the Tangalooma resort on Moreton Island since birth and was airlifted to Sea World after being attacked by a shark last week.

Sea World director of marine sciences Trevor Long says the dolphin is in quarantine.

“He’s coping quite well. We consider the wound isn’t going to be life-threatening,” he said.

“It should heal quite well and it should only be a matter of four to six weeks and he will be back at Tangalooma with his mates.”

He says vets operated on Nari’s wound yesterday and the dolphin is now recovering in a quarantine pool.

“It’s a pool of about 17 metres by six metres, about two-and-a-half-metres deep,” he said.

“He’s not moving around too much, he’s a bit sore, and he’ll be fed form within that pool.

“When we feel his wounds are okay he’ll be taken back to Tangalooma aboard Seaworld One and released.”

I love that he trusted humans enough to come in for help and that he remained calm and it still calm in quarantine. It shows how clever these guys are, that he would think “Oh I know, the hoomans will help”. So sweet. I just love dolphins. I suspect they’re smarter than a lot of people.
