I just went home for a couple days, (Thurs night – Sat afternoon) and while I was home I had contacted a mini-rex breeder who had posted an ad for a tricolor mini rex male on Kijiji. I had tried to buy one several weeks earlier while home for March Break, but that fell through, and since my motto is “everything happens for a reason” I knew the other bun had fallen through so this guy could come into my life. So I contacted the breeder earlier this week and told her about myself and my buns, and she was so relieved, and said out of the many emails she picked me because I sounded the most responsible and she did not want him going to a child’s house. She said he’s a bit skittish; I was excited.
So, Friday night we went to pick him up…
The breeder named him Levi; he’s 8 weeks old tomorrow… his reg’d name is ‘Windy Nook’s Levi’ and I planned to give him a more symbolic name, like how I did with Yuuki and Kibou.But anyway, my parents had just taken me out to dinner (we picked him up afterwards) and mom was looking at his pedigree and how his mom’s name was ‘Jasmine’ and she said ‘we can call him Jazz!’ And I said, “No no…I’ll pick something more meaningful.”
But the name Jazz just kind of… stuck… lol.
He spent Friday night in a large dog carrier, with shavings and hay and food and water (since I wasn’t going home till today). Then, he endured a 4 hour car ride up here, in which he was in the carrier in the passenger seat keeping me company. He was a bit stressed; spent the entire ride lying down with his legs sticking out, heh…
Anyway, finally we got here and I settled him into his new cage (3 feet x 2 feet) with Woody Pellets bedding for now (since he’s been living on wire and won’t know where to poop) with a huge bundle of hay and water bowl + water bottle, and his old food. He sat there looking lost for a moment, then sat in the hay and I snapped some pics, but since then he has ventured around, drank water (which relieved me a lot!), and chomped hay, then flopped out.
So, without further ado…here is Jazz, 8 weeks old tomorrow, Mini-Rex buck!
