I noticed Pheobe was walking kind of funny and after watching her for awhile I noticed something like poop on a string following her around when she walked. Which isn’t too much, I think the string is stressing her out.

My question is, what is this? How does it happen? Will it hurt her? Is there anything I should do for her?  Is it something I did? If so, tell me how to Not do it again!!!!

        Please!

Is the string stuck to her bottom somehow?  Does the string look like a “pearl necklace”?  Sometimes when bunnies are shedding they ingest a lot of fur as they groom themselves.  This eventually comes out in their poops, and sometimes actually makes strings of poops stuck together with fur.  Can you tell if the string is still inside her or just caught on her?  You should be able to pull it off easily.

A gentle tug should do the trick

It was stuck to her but it’s fallen off now. Is there anything I should give her to help her digest the hair better?

Oh and thanks a lot, you’ve both made me feel a whole lot better!

Joey, make sure you give her a good groom morning and night while shes shedding with a very good pet hair brush. Apparently fresh pineapple helps to break down fur (or furballs) in the stomach but as always prevention is the best cure

Ahhh I thought you might have the dreaded ‘pearl necklace’ its poop strung together by fur, and looks exactly as it sounds.
you can just tug it off

She might be molting as others have said. Try to brush her everyday and give pin/papaya tablets or fresh pineapple

And of course, keep up the high fiber foods like grass hay to help push the fur through the system and out.  The best defense against fur coated poops is brushing to remove loose fur and hay to help it pass through the system

That’s good that the fur is passing through the system. As Osprey said grass hay is the best defense and brushing if she will tolerate that.

                          I like that…choo choo poo!

Leo has been going through a hell of a molt right now!  I’ve been plucking him pretty regularly.  At this point, I’ve gotten most of it, except a little dust ruffle around his bum and belly.  Jessica eats papaya tabs as treats, so that helps out her choo choo poo, but Leo hates papaya tabs.  Leo usually gets dried pineapple of papaya.  I get it from Whole Foods  aka Whole paycheck, b/c they sell the non-sugared dried fruit.  I got this advice on BB and it has been successful w/ the molts.
