I let Samantha out this morning, leading to her favorite under-my-bed spot. While she was there, I vacuumed her habitat, took a damp rag to wash it down and dried it and pulled out all the throw rugs and tossed them into the washer/dryer.

Not crazy about how those bath rugs are holding up. All cotton and not stick on the backs so safe, but they are not great and she pushes them all around, sometimes stranding herself on the dreaded vinyl.

So I took some advice from you guys and tried something new. Went to Walmart and got 1 1/2 yd. of 100% cotton flannel. (The fleece was thicker but poly. so I want to stick with cotton.) I got a light green solid color. I had left her stranded on one little clean rug under her tent. When I got home I let her out and lay the flannel sheet under most of her things in her cage. Left the litter pan and food dishes on seagrass mattes, so she won’t spill or pee on the flannel if that’s possible to avoid.

She investigated the flannel by walking on it. Pushed the throw rug around under the tent. Lay down under the tent with the throw rug as a pillow prop, stretched out on the flannel and took a good, long, deep nap.

        I think she likes it.

It occured to me that a good floor cover would be a baby or twin sized cotton bed quilt. Couldn’t find one though.

Here she is just waking up from her nap.

Here she is stretching, heading for a snack.

          Here she is snacking.

            Isn’t she pretty?

Haha…Before I got to your last question I was saying just that to myself. She’s so pretty! Her eyes markings are the best! Glad she approves of the latest reno.

Do you know, I did find an image when you were 1st setting up her xpen. A baby rug and it had a pink motif on it. I was looking for something pink and princessy. Darned if I know how to find that pic again though. Anyway, this flooring looks just right!

Looks lovely! And the new flooring looks great too!
You don’t have any trouble with Sammy nibbling on cloth? This is why I can only put certain things in my buns’ pens/setups…they enjoy the ‘polyester nom’ a little too much.
All those nice, expensive bunny mattresses I got from the UK…there is not one that doesn’t have a hole in it one place or other…usually due to Pip getting the munchies. But they’ve held up really well for the last almost 3 years.

She taste tests anything in her house, so I expect her to nibble. That’s why I refuse to buy anything but cotton, in case it becomes lunch one day. So far she has only pulled on it at some edges. What’s great is that she pulled up her throw rug from before to expose more of the flannel, but let that flat. I take that to mean she prefers the flannel to the rug, except as a pillow. And this morning it was still laid out. Going to google a pink baby rug now.

Well, these are just sort of like the ones you’ll find in Petco, but I like the quality better. They are more plush, softer and in general Fiver’s favorite form of cushy for his feetsies. I’ll try to get a pic.
I also had to start using them with Pip, because I got tired of cleaning up hay being strewn around her hab for traction, and straw mats are too quickly eaten.
However I went back to the site today, admittedly after a long absence, and was shocked to find their stock of ‘refined rabbit’ items are seriously curtailed. There is no sign of the 40 winks mattress any longer, nor the little bags of dried dandelion and other herbs either, plus all the rest of their bunny products, barring hutches and bowls. I am crushed. This was a favorite place of mine to go.

Although I must admit, some of those designer rabbit bowls they’re carrying are a bit cute.

In case anyone wants to visit there anyway…the addy is below. They still seem to cater to dogs and cats, and they have the aforementioned few bunny items remaining. (I hope it’s still okay to link sites, if not feel free to delete this.)

Checked them out, then did a google search for 40 winks mattress, and their former page came up listing it as out of stock. But there are a couple on Amazon. sounds like everyone is running out of stock on them. Looks very comfy. Linking is fine.

                              Sammy? I’ll ask her.
