I think for a rabbit over one year old it would be fine but rabbits who are still growing still should have their pellets and veggies. Definitely cutting back on pellets is a good idea overall too once they reach maturity.

I do that…the reason is that I have read several times that 80 % of a rabbit diet should be hay. And I have a bad feeling that this does not apply for my bunnies. And now that I have seen with a wrong diet can do to a bunny’s teeth, I am really conscious about the importance of hay.

The hay helps to keep the teeth trimmed unlike eg. pellets. I wish I could find the link that Petzy gave me when I had a diet question. But basically, the more hay, the better teeth

I’ve noticed that Freya does this on her own, but if she didn’t or doesn’t continue I’ll certainly force it on her when she’s all growed up. Four or five days a week she inhales her veggies and pellets like a Hoover. Then the other days she’ll hardly touch them and sit on her third level almost all day just munching on hay lazily. I read somewhere once that the whole food pyramid thing for adults is a lot more fair if you add it all up and do it a week at a time instead of a day so I figured the same would apply for Freya.
