Hi, I just have a few questions about safe veggies/fruits for buns…first, are chives safe? I know they’re related to onions, and I don’t think those are safe for rabbits? What about nectarines? And would it be ok to feed various varieties of mint (specifically chocolate mint, banana mint & ginger mint)? Thanks!

I go for the “If it is something a wild rabbit couldn’t get its hands on and eat, then it’s not safe” – so I wouldn’t feed nectarines, but then again, I don’t feed fruits at all, though a lot of the bunny experts in here does, so it could be fine.

As for the chives – I would feed my rabbit with it though I haven’t tried it.
According to this, you shouldn’t feed with chives:

But further down someone says that the wild rabbits in the garden eat it – that is the principle I base my feeding upon, but it might not be right.

                Chives are a no.

I think nectarines would be okay as long as you don’t feet them the or let them chew on them – they are just a form of peaches really which is on the safe list.

Mint is fine – I feed this all the time to my rabbits – I’ve never fed the flavored mints but I would if I thought they might like them.
