Not normally – but if they get covered in something nasty, sometimes you don’t have a choice! Animals just don’t understand showers do they?

and it’s much better to spot clean a bunny, baths are very stressful and wholly unnecessary in most cases.

Oh that poor kitty in the shower! ;_; That reminds me of my first cat, Peanuts, an orange tabby. A hippie stuffed him into a grocery bag of ours at the store when my mom wasn’t looking (of course I saw it, but he held his finger over his mouth in the “sh” gesture and I was 5…what was I supposed to do?) She was so mad when she heard the strawberries meowing as we pulled into the driveway that I got a several hours lecture and poor Peanuts had to sleep in the shower stall….on MY FAVORITE BLANKET! >_<
I felt so bad for him. We didn’t have him for more than six years, but he was a good cat. Just had to live outdoors because my mom didn’t like cats. He would sleep with my mutt dog and they’d eat and drink out of the same dishes. Great cat. ^_^
That one, though…gosh he looks terrified. 0.o;
My husband’s cat, Drac, a long-haired black, he was a love in the shower. Actually enjoyed having a regular one so that he stayed nice and clean. My current two will put up with it, but they take quite a few layers of epidermis with them when they go to dry off.
LOVE the manager bunneh! Oh those white loppies are precious!

Terrified? That is not what a “terrified” cat looks like. Believe me, a brief washing in the shower may be unpleasant for cats and buns, but it is hardly the traumatic experience you seem to think it is.

Lago, please excuse me, but I think you are reading me wrong. I’m not saying that animals don’t need baths sometimes, no matter how unpleasant it may be for them or, more likely, for the human doing the bathing. By all means, when my cat needs a spruce up, he gets one, whether he wants it or not.

I guess I was just reacting to the eyes on these rabbits and cats, because they look so pitiful and it just evokes emotion in me. Sorry if I sounded harsh, that wasn’t my intention.

And if you’ll notice, I did mention my husband’s cat, who seemed to like the shower very much. That of course, was all due to the training ‘Daddy’ put him through, by tossing him into the apartment pool where he lived and going around to the other side in time to catch him from extricating himself and giving him a gentle shove back in until he was thoroughly clean. Drac was a great cat, who thought he was a dog, and trusted my husband implicitly…but I have to admit having a bit of a laugh at the poor cat’s expense on that one.

I’ve also had cats who will just as soon remove your arm at the shoulder rather than come into contact with water. Fuzzy went to the vets when he needed cleaning, sadly not as often as he should have because it was beyond my pocketbook, but I simply couldn’t control him in the tub and I like my fingers where they are, thank you. ^^;
