First time post here looking for some advice.
I rehomed littermates Rogue and Einstein (Lionhead x Angora – very small) when they were about six months.About a week ago, at the age of almost seven years, Einstein sadly passed. They were inseparable, and this is a sad time for the family. For some advice I think I need to give some background.
When Rogue and Einstein were about a year old a Continental x English lop came into our home and although they got along at first (despite all being neutered) Einstein did not get along with her (she was called El-arah) We bonded her with a companion named Bishop and all was well. El-arah sadly passed around a year later and about eight months after that, after lots of bunny dates Rogue, Einstein and Bishop were bonded and loved each other very much. We moved and about six months or so later Bishop was attacked on his nose and after a few more fights we separated him from Rogue and Einstein but kept their pens side by side.
Now Einstein had passed I worry about Rogue and although we give her attention as she has always been with her littermate, I feel she needs some bunny companionship. She is eating, drinking, pooing normally and moving around and playing. As she is now seven and deemed as a senior, how long should I wait for her to go on bunny dates? If introduced slowly, could Rogue and Bishop be rebonded? (I know how to bond bunnies but don’t want to upset either especially during such a traumatic time Rogue must be having.)
Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated.
