So heres my problem, my oldest rabbit opal is the mother of my three other rabbits and they had been together since the day they were born with no real dominance issues. I recently moved Opal and Cas into the house while Tot and Mr.Black stayed in the barn. This stayed that was for about a week and a half. I have now moved Mr.Black and Tot into the house and Cas seems to be okay woth it but Opal is humping and nipping them when ever she can… They chase eachother around so much sometimes I cant sleep… Any tips tricks or help you have that could be useful would be much appreciated.

        Thanks

Your probably getting some female hormones in there — unspayed females can be very aggressive/hormonal towards other bunnies. I would be careful keeping them together until you can get them spayed. Unspayed females are very likely to get uterine cancer between 3-4 years of age. And they could really do some damage to each other if they fought because of hormones and no one was there to break them up.

Spaying all 3 of them will be close to 600$ are there any other options?

Not really. And spaying them is beneficial for their health anyway, with an ungodly high chance of uterine cancer by about 4 years old

I agree with Tanlover and Monkeybun. Spaying is really your best option if you want them to have a lasting and safe bond.

Do you have any rabbit rescues or shelters that deal with rabbits in your area? You can call them and ask if they know of any low spay options in the area. Also, I would call around to surrounding areas if you have transportation. Our local vet charges about 275 per spay but if I drive for 45 mins there’s an exotics vet that charges around 90.

I agree with MoveDiagonally. A lot of areas have low-cost spay options. I know here my vet charged us close to $400 for our girls spay but through the local Humane Society and other shelters you can get income-based spays that can go as low as $30 and they lower it for each additional spay/neuter you do! If you give us a location you live near (not exact but just the area) I can help look up some options for you. If you want of course.

^ I couldn’t find anything on there website and they were already closed so I couldn’t call but I would try calling them and asking about programs they may know of even if they don’t do it themselves. All rescues take their animals for spays/neuters so they are usually very helpful about these type of things.

^ Rabbit only shelter that if don’t have spay option can probably DEFINITELY give you low-cost spay programs. I know they are in Ontario but not sure how close to where you are located.

Here are some pictures of Cas and Opal they are now giving each other enough room to happily co-exist. I just want to thank all of you especially tanlover14 for your answers and help. I’m looking into finding a clinic that will say both my bunnies. Thanks again.
