My husband had assumed it had rabies. I guess it was just disoriented perhaps because we had a lot of rain and some flooding maybe he was trying to find a new home to go to. It was acting weird and had its mouth was open like maybe it was panting? Even if it didn’t have rabies I have never seen a opossum run as fast as he did and towards me. hehe
I once had a friend in high school call me over to her house because she said she found the cutest little creature and put it in a shoebox. She opened the box and it was a baby opossum. It wasn’t very pleased at being caught. It did bite her and then fell over dead. Her family took her and it to the hospital and had it tested for rabies. That’s my only other type of interaction with one.
