Thank you for your feedback. Possibly and sadly bunny’s hide things very well and the signs may be difficult to read. For my part, I did go for my first check up with her and only because I was worried she would have to suffer the same destiny like Adi. Before I only went to the vet when there was an issue or concern. When we went to the Vet on Monday, she wasn’t gasping for air but her sides were visibly moving. It was purely an incidental finding and only because she started panicking on the table when she was lifted up by a stranger.
I am in contact with the vet. I reported immediately in the beginning of the week that she doesn’t take the meds. It’s a dog medicine (Vetmedin) that apparently has the meat taste/smell. She took medicine before (Panacur) that I could administer with no issues on her favorite snack. As it might also be the smell putting her off (in addition to having the syringe put to her mouth), the vet will order the sweet liquid version for us to try.
This morning I tried another way and “shot” the small dosage of the current medicine (crushed tablet mixed with a bit of water) from the syringe onto her tongue (she had her mouth open again) from a short distance and it seems to have finally worked. She chewed afterwards and seemed to have ingested the medicine. Breathing difficulties still seem to be there, maybe it takes some time for the medicine to work.
I want to try the liquid to see if she may accept it to possibly help her on an ongoing basis. Euthanasia is the last option but certainly something on my mind. I would have never said this before but it’s better to be informed of the options and have a plan rather than to panic and take rushed decisions in the moment as the experience with my poor Adi taught me. It’s hard seeing her with the breathing difficulty. Yesterday, she ran into hiding and then shortly afterwards came to the other room to the sofa looking up at us like she’s saying help me. She ate this morning and “washed” herself which is great.
