Its been 4 and 1/2 days since I started metronidazole for my bunny. He is still getting mushy paste like poop. My vet wants to do stool exam for him. I am not sure whether bunny needs another medications. Poor guy getting all the antibiotics. He is eating and drinking well. I am still force feeding him with critical care so that he does not loose…[Read more]

Oops I think I stand corrected! I don’t think they’re Velcro, It says hook and loop style closures on both the ankle and foot. And lined with micro-fur 🙂

Winter is a chewer unfortunately! But I put a bath mat on top of the hard tray, with a triple layered fleece blanket on top and tucked tightly under the tray into the cage and so far so good! No destruction. I’ve tried putting a small towel in her cage before (for digging purposes) but she never paid it any attention. I can try it again when s…[Read more]

Ahhh @Azerane that is so stressful! We are currently dealing with a really similar situation, where our rabbits are allowed on the lease explicitly, but the landlord came in for a repair and then saw some chewed areas of a baseboard (totally cosmetic that we were planning to fix before moving out) and freaked out. So now she wants us to keep them…[Read more]

Some ups and downs are normal, and it often seems like it’s two steps forward one step back. Maybe before the next session, try cleaning the bathroom really well so it smells a little more neutral, and see if the next session is better. If not, then you might try a new location, or add an element of stressing before the session. So you could pop…[Read more]

That all sounds pretty normal! It’s all part of them establishing their relationship. Bella is basically telling Glenn that he isn’t allowed to mount her (at least not without some serious wooing first). I’ve seen this pretty regularly, where in the first date one bun doesn’t mind being mounted, but then once they get a little more comfortable the…[Read more]

I agree, rabbits do not respond to negative reinforcement. All it will do is harm your relationship with your bunny. Some bunnies just react differently to things as well, just like humans and other animals. Some of my bunnies are really startled by slight noises, and the other ones don’t react at all. I think it’s just natural personality…[Read more]

It is often hard or impossible to see the back molars without anesthesia or x-ray, bunnies have 24 molars in that tiny mouth. So it’s possible she has molar spurs in the back that the vet couldn’t see.

If untreated it will continue to get worse and cause more problems.

I’m happy to hear that, I hope you can get started on a course of meds and see some improvement. Testing for EC is notoriously unreliable so many vets opt to treat for it if there are any symptoms.

Ahhhh! That sounds awful! I am so bad about being physically ill because I get so worried! (I was sick to my stomach and throwing up once just leaving the buns on a 3 night camping trip 1 hour away!)

I’ve just found a clump of Glenn’s fur! Looks like it was a fur pull rather than a bite, which I’ve heard isn’t that abnormal during bonding.
Just to clarify I do not intend on posting every day and annoying everyone 😂 I just thought I’d mention this time because of the bite… Which may actually have been a less severe fur pull after all.

Very mediocre third date… A bite occurred.
I set them up for a date again in lounge as yesterday went well in there and still neither are outright aggressive, was a nice atmosphere for the first 5 mins, Glenn mounted a few times and ear groomed Bella, and a there was a couple seconds of head to head touching, then Glenn explored elsewhere and a…[Read more]

Rabbits dont respond well to dicipline. You might teach your bun that he cant chew on particular items when you are present, but he’d still chew them when you’re not there. I dont think screaming or yelling would help. Yelling will more likely cause him to avoid you. Its a lot better for your relationship that he doesnt see you as hostile or…[Read more]

Thank you very much. This was very helpful. The vet did say that EC is a possibility. I was able to get him to the vet today. He is there now and getting another good look at.

Yep they progressively go back to normal size during the day. I’ll start weighing her weekly, thank you for the suggestion. Do you think 1/3 cup of versele laga is a good amount? she weighs about 2,2 kg
