Its been 4 and 1/2 days since I started metronidazole for my bunny. He is still getting mushy paste like poop. My vet wants to do stool exam for him. Winter is a chewer unfortunately! But I put a bath mat on top of the hard tray, with a triple layered fleece blanket on top and tucked tightly under the tray into the cage and so far so good! I agree, rabbits do not respond to negative reinforcement. All it will do is harm your relationship with your bunny. Some bunnies just react differently to things as well, just like humans and other animals. Some of my bunnies are really startled by slight noises, and the other ones don’t react at all. It is often hard or impossible to see the back molars without anesthesia or x-ray, bunnies have 24 molars in that tiny mouth. So it’s possible she has molar spurs in the back that the vet couldn’t see.

If untreated it will continue to get worse and cause more problems.

I’m happy to hear that, I hope you can get started on a course of meds and see some improvement. Testing for EC is notoriously unreliable so many vets opt to treat for it if there are any symptoms.

Ahhhh! That sounds awful! I am so bad about being physically ill because I get so worried! (I was sick to my stomach and throwing up once just leaving the buns on a 3 night camping trip 1 hour away!)

I’ve just found a clump of Glenn’s fur! Looks like it was a fur pull rather than a bite, which I’ve heard isn’t that abnormal during bonding.

Just to clarify I do not intend on posting every day and annoying everyone 😂 I just thought I’d mention this time because of the bite… Which may actually have been a less severe fur pull after all.

Rabbits dont respond well to dicipline. You might teach your bun that he cant chew on particular items when you are present, but he’d still chew them when you’re not there. I dont think screaming or yelling would help. Yelling will more likely cause him to avoid you. Its a lot better for your relationship that he doesnt see you as hostile or…[Read more]

Yep they progressively go back to normal size during the day. I’ll start weighing her weekly, thank you for the suggestion. Do you think 1/3 cup of versele laga is a good amount? she weighs about 2,2 kg
