Ohh it looks like my phone isn’t letting me reply to specific comments correctly:(

I guess we will wait to bond them. A bummer since we now can’t get her fixed until January

Thanks for the tips, and thanks for keeping up here considering all the landlord stuff :/ I’m sure as they get bored and more active there could be some steps backwards but I’m hopeful we can have a successful marathon.

A short report, I’m with them getting ready to wrap up a shorter session and for once they didn’t reset! I have not had to…[Read more]

I will definitely give the cat scratchers a try! I never thought of getting her any. I’m going to put them inside the boxes as it’s shown in the videos below hopefully that will catch her attention. Thank you so much for the ideas.

I will definitely get some cat scratchers! I’ve never thought of buying her any. Thank you!

It may reduce when she’s spayed, but indeed, if she has now discovered the glory of carpet digging, it is likely something you’ll want to learn how to effectively redirect. Carpet diggers, baseboard chewers, etc. seem to be fans of “anchored” toys, in my experience, so things held down, tied down, or large so they can really tug and get into…[Read more]

Did they try different paws? I would recommend another try and not attempting bonding while she’s intact — while unfortunately that the timeline is pushed, it really is the safest and most assured method to increase your chance of success.

Do try some cardboard cat scratchers too! My carpet digger really liked them and they helped save my carpet.

Maybe she did just find out that the carpet is fun 😫, because prior to this she never did any of that. She would chew on stuff here and there but I’ve always provided her with plenty of toys so it was never an issue. I’m going to head out in a bit to buy several tiles. To at least cover the edges of the carpet. I do have a big cardboard box for…[Read more]

Aww I’m sorry they couldn’t do it today! I think you made the right call by deciding to just wait a few more weeks. I have not heard of that issue with the IV, so I can’t help with that one. I wonder if it could have something to do with how hydrated the animal is? I know in humans that can play into things somehow.

    Definitely wait until she’s…[Read more]

Today I dropped off both of my 7 month old bunnies to get fixed.

    male was neutered no problem.

Vet says after 4 attempts to get an IV in my female rabbit she’s giving up. She says her veins kept blowing and I had 2 options- catheter in her ear, or try again in a few weeks.

she told me that she’s seen the IV in the ear cause the tissue to bec…[Read more]

It could be, but it could also be something she suddenly realized was fun. My guess is it may improve with spaying but prob wont completely go away.

Heavy ceramic tiles do work really well, get the biggest ones you can. I’ve noticed just covering up the hot spots helps a lot. Cardboard cat scratchers and grass/paper mats are also really good for…[Read more]

Can the onset of sudden carpet digging be hormonal? My female rabbit is 8 months old and has not been spayed due to health reasons. The vet is postponing her spay until she is in the clear. Prior to the last 2 weeks she would never have excessive digging behaviors. She is destroying my carpet and don’t know how to get her to stop. Will the spay s…[Read more]

Thank you so much, DanaNM, and thank *you* so much for all of your generous help too!!  Teddy’s eating is still kind of up and down at times, but he did a wonderful flop last night and we are just cherishing and celebrating every day with him.  He is such a gift!  🙂

From my experience Yesterday’s News can be dumped out side when it is soiled, so that’s a plus.

Ahhhhh….. sounds AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!! My advice: just repeat this inside your head over and over: What don’t kill you makes you stronger, I can survive a few more weeks. I honestly don’t think I could deal with that, but I’m sure you’re stronger than me!

I would also assume someone wouldn’t literally use a clause like that for no good reason. If I end up renting again (which now I’m thinking never..) this is good information. I would have thought a landlord can’t legally do what she is doing.

It does just suck and is not fair. I don’t know all the paranoid disorders but almost sounds schizophrenic.

We also have the “quiet enjoyment” clause here, we are definitely planning to take some action once we move out… the trouble is just that clause in our lease that gives the landlord power to just end the lease over whatever she wants basically. The attorney we talked to was like “you never should have signed this lease”. We had seen that section…[Read more]
