Thank you so much for your reply!! It helped a lot, also for us to not to worry so much.
The tornado was maybe once every day, after we moved the dates to the kitchen, because it was raining outside a lot and we also wanted to increase the time. But the last tornado was yesterday night. And yes, the kitchen is less neutral place, but we cleaned…[Read more]

That’s tough, it’s hard to say whether the boxes were the problem (if only we could read their little bunny minds). At this point, what are the positive behaviors your seeing and what are the negatives? Is the main pattern of aggression based on the time of day or do you see another trigger?
But it’s OK to take a break and go back to normal…[Read more]

That’s a good idea! Thanks! Maybe pain meds could be a good step before putting her through more procedures or anesthetic again.
I do have some metacam at home actually. I will suggest pain meds to the vet tomorrow and see what he says.

Hi there, welcome!
How long ago was the bunny tornado? If it was towards the beginning, and things seem like they have been improving, I think it would be fine to just keep marathoning in that space (with supervision). Really you want them to have been together for 48 hours of no significant aggression (a little nip here and there is OK, but you…[Read more]

Hi there!
Our Female bunny Twilight is 1,5 years old, spayed. She lives with us since a year, free roaming. Our baby boy Peanut is 7-8 months old, neutered, lives with us since 3 months.
PRE-BONDING
So as for pre-bonding, they were living next to each other with separate enclosure for 3 months.BUNNY-DATES
We are now day 10 with the bonding…[Read more] -

We were in a neutral space for this – we did 48 hours marathon. We did use litterboxes after 24 hours, so this might be where we went wrong. We might have to go a stage back to dating, as our hectic work schedules won’t allow for another 24/48 hour bonding session soon unfortunately.
I have access to a friend’s house but we wouldn’t be able to do…[Read more]

Given all that’s been going on with her, I think it may be worth seeing if pain management helps in general. A lot of older buns get daily metacam to help with arthritis.

I’m surprised they just didn’t shave his body clean so he could “start over”. But, I suppose, with it being winter perhaps they didn’t want to do that. They were probably worried he would get too cold. Too bad this wasn’t in the summer. It would have made things a little easier. I agree with Dana, if the mats are too close to the skin, it’s…[Read more]

Phew okay that’s good to know that it may be relatively normal for buns to do. I was panicking that she might be developing some kind of paralysis but that might be a bit on the extreme side to think….
I have been wondering that too about the arthritis! But this is the first time I’m caring for aging bunnies, both 5 yrs old this year so I’m…[Read more]

I agree that providing a fan near them can help a lot. I usually give my buns a frozen bottle each day in the summer, and keep a fan on near them that they can lay in front of if they choose to.

That’s a really hard situation to be in. 🙁 I’m sorry you are having such a hard time with him.
Rabbits are very similar to horses in terms of their medical care (although of course they are much smaller), so it may be helpful to seek out a vet that works with horses (rather than one that only treats dogs and cats).
As for mite treatment, that…[Read more]

Yes, what you’re describing sounds pretty typical. When bunnies are hot, they tend to not move around a lot. If the cool air from the AC circulating well? Perhaps you need to set up fans or turn on ceiling fans to ensure the air is getting to your bunnies.

Depending on the kind of spider, it could explain the bleeding behind the eye and blood counts. I’m not familiar with the spiders in Australia, but brown recluse spiders here in the US have venom that can damage blood vessels and cause anemia.

I agree with Dana. The chances of an infected cut being infected with MRSA would be unusual. Unless you have reason to believe the infection is caused by MRSA, I really wouldn’t worry about it.

So, Bun Jovi has always done this with one of his front legs since I’ve had him (I got him when he was 9), and always when he’s getting grooms or pets.
If she’s having hind leg weakness too I wonder if she could have some arthritis? I know BJ does have some arthritis, but that’s to be expected at his age.
Has she been on any pain management?

You are right. He has teeth issues also. One of his teeth is broken. I will try some of the things you mention. My options are a bit limited due to local conditions. I think he is also developing mites (had happened to him about 6 months back). I plan to take him to another vet tomorrow. Feeling a bit down. I have vowed never to keep an exotic pet…[Read more]
