Thank you so much! We went to the vet to get his RHDV booster about 5 hours ago. I mentioned it to his vet and showed her some photos, and she said that their poops can vary and be inconsistent sometimes without any real cause and that it doesn’t always mean stasis. He got his vaccine and did very well. We came home and he ended up pooping about a…[Read more]

Unless you have a leftover prescription of meloxicam/metacam, there is no pain medication you can administer at home that would be safe/adviseable. Definitely focus on getting your rabbit to the vet as soon as possible.

I found out this morning that my dad accidentally stepped on my rabbit. Min-Min squiggled away before my dad put his full weight down but I think he knocked his chin on the ground and has tooth pain.
One of his bottom teeth is slightly loose and pushed forward a little. He is very gingerly ate a bit of lettuce but hay and pellets seem too much…[Read more]

Happy New year! Hopefully Bun Jovi and the gang will be moving home this week, yay!
Bella looks so comfortable and adorable, I love her colors.
I don’t have any solid resolutions, I’m thinking of trying to move again but it depends. I’m mostly just so happy my buns finally bonded and my master bathroom under construction (for almost a year…[Read more]

I might do it for the hay rack, but I see no issues with Jumping Jack hopping in. She even does it for fun. If she’s just sitting (not napping or anything) she prefers to sit in a box of paper pellets than on her bed. Maybe I just need a different bed?
I do want a new litter box anyway, this one’s a little dirty and I can’t clean some stuff off.…[Read more]

Thanks, I’ll check out that link. The thing is as soon as I gave him the hay, all it took was one sniff and he started sneezing, so that’s why I think he’s allergic to the hay. It can’t hurt to ask the vet for more advice but I think I’m going to be switching his hay to orchard, to be honest. I’ll wait for more members’ opinions though, just to be safe!

Update. The blanket of his that I gave to our female had been dragged out of her hutch and when I lifted it to bring it back inside. She attacked it quite aggressively.

This is really interesting to know. The antibiotic he had was enrofloxacin. I’ve spoken to the vet about this and she told me to check his hay and see if he had a fever, but he doesn’t and he’s acting completely normal aside from the discharge and sneezing. But yes, I’ll try and ask her about using a different antibiotic. The trouble is I don’t…[Read more]

I’d try at least one more different antibiotic before jumping to conclusions. If you haven’t seen improvement after 5 days on the current one, I recommend calling the vet and discussing trying a different one. URIs can be caused by many types of bacteria and not all antibiotics are effective on all of them.

@LBJ10, that sounds very reasonable..She mentioned that in passing, and did not give him any pain meds after, which bothers me. Perhaps he was not supposed to be in lots of pain after that, but he seemed on a verge of dying after we got home.
@GlennTheLionhead, thanks for your reply! It’s very interesting that Bella had the same thing. I’m glad…[Read more]

Hi everyone, apologies in advance for the wall of text.
I’m after a bit of advice, in case anyone has been in a similar situation before and has any tips or tricks. I’ve tried Googling but there’s nothing that quite covers it, so thought I’d ask!
Background. We started with a female bunny (Toast) and got her a companion (Honey, also female), I…[Read more]

My two month old baby lop has been having some discharge from his nose and sneezing for a while. The discharge looks clear to me but when it goes onto it stains around his nose yellow-ish. He was on antibiotic and vitamin C for five days, but the symptoms have not improved. The temperature in the room is not cold, and he also doesn’t have a fever.…[Read more]
