Is the little teddy bear neutered? Maybe he’s not going potty in his litterbox all the time because he hasn’t fully recovered from GI stasis. Although I don’t know why he would be going in his litterbox up until now, and then suddenly start going somewhere else? That’s good he is going! ♡

This is just so, so sad. I really don’t know why people don’t supervise their buns outdoors – it’s just heartbreaking. We all make mistakes, but we should also be more careful! I didn’t know you, but still love you lots, Joji, baby. I’m so sorry for you loss.

My niece lost her black lionhead, Joji, to a neighbors dog the other day.

He was outdoors, but the dog had to come into their yard…I don’t know the details.

I babysat him a couple years ago.  Ornery, full of himself little turd (said with love).

    He will be missed.

It’s very strange because during the day he seems like he is gassy and I can hear his stomach gurgling, so I have been giving him a dose of Benebac daily along with the Nystatin (anti-fungal). He acts totally fine during the day and eats tons of hay, but he will sit in his litter box and lift his tail as if he were going to poop and then he will…[Read more]

So again, I just came home after being out for a few hours to a litter box of PERFECT poops and an active, binkying bunny. He’s eating wonderfully and playing with me. But again, tomorrow he will probably be gassy until he passes the big ball of cecotropes. This makes me think that maybe this isn’t a structural or underlying issue, it’s just overp…[Read more]

Thanks for the response. It is SO hard to know what to do in this situation. I sometimes wonder if I went through with the mini operation and cleaning it out, am I doing it FOR her or TO her. But if I don’t figure something out soon I’m not sure she’ll make it another month.

When your bun was on the penicillin injections, was it everyday for 6…[Read more]

That’s not entirely true. Sometimes it can start out as regular poops mixed with flare ups. I’m still leaning toward the cecal dysbiosis. You may have to go to hay only to see if that clears it up.

Yes, I agree the rapid weight loss is most concerning. If he is still eating plenty then there could be something really bad going on internally (e.g. cancer).

Im thinking about having the x rays repeated, but I’m worried about him being sedated for them. At this point, I’m just really really hoping that this isn’t a chronic issue or a problem with his GI anatomy and that it will be treatable.

Any advice is welcome at this point because I am so worried. Do you guys think he’ll be okay?

I mentioned it to the specialist but she said that she highly doubts that it’s megacolon since he is producing normal fecal pellets as well and he has had x rays done.

    Was megacolon ever mentioned?

Bam covered everything really well! Just wanted to share that some people have luck in picking the bun up using the litter box (they just pick the litter box up while the bun is in it, and move them to the table for groroming). Or they train them to go into their carrier using treats (usually feeding the bun his pellets in it every day works very…[Read more]

You can also just skip the pellets as long as she eats enough hay. I sometimes skip a day or two a week or pellets with mine intentionally just to bump up their hay consumption. She may look at you expectantly around pellet time, but she’ll be fine 🙂
