LittleLionMan started the topic When to switch to easy entry litters? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 6 months ago
Hi all!
I have one of those hay feeder/litter box combos, and was looking to get a second one. The site I’m looking at offers an “easy entry” litter box option, and I am curious at what age people consider switching to a low profile litter? My bun is turning 6 in April which is not particularly old, but he will be considered a “senior” bunny. Ev…[Read more]

I strongly believe they do! My buns will pick out their favourite pieces first very selectively! Even the same lettuce that is just a different colour. They typically should different but consistent level of excitement when I give them different varieties of greens.

There are some educational videos on the internet about how to help a chocking rabbit, they are last attempt that can be likened to the heimlich maneuver.
Familiarising yourself with these techniques might give you peice of mind that you can handle a situation should it arise.
I believe the video I watched was created by a bunny vet and it is…[Read more]

Am I the only one who has ever wondered if different types of lettuce and greens taste different to our bunny overlords?

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Do I have the right strategy for bonding 4? in the forum BONDING 4 years, 6 months ago
You can always try the the trio first and introducing the final one later, yes. Group bonding is even more variable in successful methods than pair bonding, so I would stick with what seems to be working and re-evaluate if things are not.

There are things you can do to minimize chance of choking, such as scatter feed pellets and also ensure everything is fed cut very small. The actual likelihood of a rabbit choking (when they haven’t shown a tendency to do that already) is low.

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Wet, now dry, and Yellow Patch Under Chin in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 6 months ago
Is that patch still there? I would have a vet assess it for something potentially fungal like ringworm based on its appearance, though it’s not something that can really be diagnosed just by pictures — you’d want a vet to thoroughly examine it.

I just wanted to add that inhalation anesthesia is the most common choice of anesthesia when spaying a healthy young rabbit. Many vets also place a canula in the ear for easy access.
If she likes banana, a small piece of banana would be good. Fresh herbs are good too prior to surgery, they have a calming scent. You can put some in the carrier for…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Orange urine in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 6 months ago
Rabbit urine comes in many colors. It is often due to carotenoids in plants, but it can also occur spontaneously. It’s not considered an observandum.
Here is a picture of normal rabbit urine from Medirabbit:

Hello fellow buns, photos attached is my rabbits color of the urine. Sometimes it’s yellow but now it got orangey.
I have to mention that she only eats pellets and hay at this time so no greens.
She chews willow and palm plates, that’s it.
Should I be concerned about it? She is acting completely normal and energetic. What could cause this color?

Bam replied to the topic Scared for bunny health and trust in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 6 months ago
It is just the best to see a wabbit hop around in your home 😀 It’s great that he is hopping around and exploring!
Overgrooming and excessive scratching can be a way to try and deal with pain anywhere in the body, so if he keeps that up, I’d definitely ask the vet for a painkiller.
Ear infections can be stubborn, is he still shaking his head…[Read more]
