khushi2020 replied to the topic Bond keeps breaking after grooming in the forum BONDING 4 years, 6 months ago
Both rabbits get groomed in my house, but get turns getting groomed on my dining table. The bonding breaking due to the stress of grooming makes sense that they have a weak bond. When they are bonded my Angora flops and cuddles into my Lionhead. My lionhead follows the Angora around. I see them cuddling and being near each other. They don’t groom…[Read more]

When they get groomed it is a groomer. However she comes to my house. I thought that would’ve solved their unbonding issue but didn’t. When she grooms them she takes turns doing them one at a time on my dining room table. My bunnies usually free roam my house. Usually bonding them back together takes 2-3 days using the 24/7 method. But since the…[Read more]

Totally love his ‘tude too… I wish I could upload a photo as Theo has a bit of a grumpy old man face too. It’s still saying something went wrong when I go to the photo section.
Also now have an official play date with Waffles as well for Sunday. She is definitely a stunner, her dad is grey like Dorian but a loop and her Mom is a very regal…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Bond keeps breaking after grooming in the forum BONDING 4 years, 6 months ago
- Depends — if one went to the groomers and the other didn’t, then that can definitely break a bond, similar to one rabbit going to the vet and not the other. In that case, they could have been bonded but it broke due to a ‘valid’ reason (i.e., scent change). If this is occurring as a result of at-home grooming and that stressor is tensing the…

I’m very sorry for your loss. You had a rough time with her, and did the best you could in your circumstances.
She was a beautiful bun <3

Aww I love dwarf buns’ attitudes! They definitely are spunky! But the little girl sounds like a good fit for sure.
Can’t wait to hear how it goes!

Hmmm, this is interesting. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of this happening specifically! When they get groomed, do they go to a groomers, or do you do it yourself? I have heard of bond’s breaking after vet visits, so wondering if it’s something similar.
When they “unbond”, what happens? Is it just some bickering or all out fighting? How hard is…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Constant destructive behavior in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 6 months ago
I agree that some bunnies just aren’t good candidates for free-roaming. Between ages 1-3 also tend to be very destructive years. My girl Bertha was this way. I loved her to pieces, but she also loved chewing fabric and carpet.
I think the push on certain social media accounts to free-roam all the time is overall a bit harmful, as a lot of rabbits…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Soft poop in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 6 months ago
Yes too many new veggies too quickly can cause some soft poops! I remember your bun is pretty young, so it’s important to introduce new foods very gradually, no more than 1 new thing per week, and starting with just a small amount for a few days.

I’m glad you were able to a couple rule things out, but I’m sorry you didn’t get more clear answers.
I think before turning to more invasive diagnostics, it’s important to ask the vet how and if the treatments would vary depending on what you find. In many cases with rabbits, the treatments are the same (pain management, supportive care, etc), so…[Read more]

Does your bun have long or short fur?
Also, can you describe his diet (how many pellets, what kind of pellets, veggies, treats, etc)? Does he eat hay well?
It could be that he’s producing extra cecals that get stuck to him, or he’s just having trouble getting them because of his fur. If it’s due to long fur, occasional “sanitary shaves” could help a lot.

DanaNM replied to the topic How much hay?!? in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 6 months ago
Another rule of thumb I’ve heard is that a bun should spend approximately 4 hours per day eating hay. I’ve always found the pile size estimate to be tricky because it varies so much by fluffiness!

DanaNM replied to the topic is this normal? please help in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 6 months ago
I agree with Bam, the most important things right now are supportive care (syringe feeding, along with keeping her warm), and pain meds if you can get them. Usually the first few days are the most critical, so you are already past the worst of it.
I agree you wouldn’t want to drive her back to the vet, but if they could prescribe you meloxicam…[Read more]

Bunny Blue Lyon replied to the topic How much hay?!? in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 6 months ago
I read that a rabbit should eat about it’s size in hay a day. But I don’t think a rabbit can overdose on hay. Enough is never enough! (That’s what I understand… We have a Blue Lionhead)

Bunny Blue Lyon replied to the topic Lettuce? in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 6 months ago
We give Bunny Blue Romaine lettuce. He loves it. We have heard that some varieties aren’t good for bunnies. He enjoys a good dandelion and nibbling the grass in the garden. He tries to eat the tulips but we don’t they are good for him so we try to get him to avoid them.
