I would get a really long runner to put down so your bunny has a path to make it out into the living area. I assume you probably have an area rug further into the room that your bunny could potentially get to.

Otomax contains an antibiotic and a steroid. The other one is an anti-fungal. Not sure what the Otomax is for. Sometimes vets will prescribe it for an ear infection when there is a lot of swelling. You want to use that with caution though. Topical steroids are not as bad as oral steroids, but they are still steroids.
How long has it been since…[Read more]

prince dorian the bun replied to the topic How much hay?!? in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 5 months ago
My bun Dorian is a big hay eater, he often eats around 3 large handfuls of hay (which is roughly his size) a day… however, if we were talking pounds I don’t think even he could put away 10lbs of hay! That said like Dana I generally only worry if I don’t see him in there munching several times a day especially if he has a fresh batch, if its…[Read more]

Time and appropriate flooring — rabbits do not have pads on the bottom of their feet like dogs/cats, so they are always wearing fuzzy socks. You can imagine that if you were always wearing fuzzy socks, you’d be less likely to explore and would be more challenged in exercising on slippy floors. Rabbits who are housed on slippy floors are at risk…[Read more]

There can be a post-neuter craze due to hormonal adjustments following a neuter which can exacerbate hormonal behavior (e.g., more aggression). That being said, it’s important that you also consider whether this change in behavior is an expression of stress due to a health or frustration/boredom issue. Since he is eating, drinking, and pooping…[Read more]

To confirm/clarify, by colic, did you veterinarian mean GI stasis? Colic is not a term typically used and from what quick googling shows, it may be a reference to GI stasis. Is the vet you saw rabbit experienced exotic? What medicine were you given (Critical Care is not a medicine, but a food)?
It is natural that her poops are smaller if she is…[Read more]

My bun was not eating, drinking, or moving the other day so I went to the vet. He told me she has colic and gave me some medicines to give her. One of them being oxbow critical care which I mix a probiotic in. She will not take it. She will let it fill her mouth and seep through her teeth. I was also told to feed her healthy rabbit poop but she…[Read more]

Hey so my bun Jinx acts normal, he eats drinks, poops and pees no problems, but I’ve noticed he’s kinda meaner all of a sudden after his nuter, i mean he was already kinda mean to my cat and kinda liked to bite me when i went near his space and stuff but mostly he was good now all of a sudden after getting fixed he attacks when i go near his cage…[Read more]

She ate all her dinner greens and her pellets, I gave her a little extra and she ate that all up too. She’s been proving her ability to chew her cardboard box louder than Dorian which is confusing him. I am trying to keep his schedule fairly intact and give them both equal attention. Do the original buns sometimes have issues with a little…[Read more]

Thanks for replying! My clinic doesn’t have any bun vaccines at the moment, but I’ll definitely look around. I also didn’t know anything about this vaccine that covers both RHVD2 and myxomatosis! ♡

Hmmm, I am not sure! All the maps I know about are of North America only, but I will keep an eye out for global maps. There must be some, because the outbreak is also happening in parts of Africa.
If your area has myxo I wonder if you could eventually get the vaccine that covers all three viruses (both RHDV strains and myxo)?

I agree with trying something more fragrant, and offering the same thing repeatedly, even if he doesn’t take it at first. My buns don’t care much for spinach in general. Big hits with my crew are cilantro, carrot tops, fennel, and dandelion.

Hi there!
This is my first time posting here, so I’m not exactly sure how this works, but I could really use advice from anyone that’s had longer experience owning rabbits than I have. I’ve been a rabbit owner to two buns for 4 years.
My youngest bun, Mila, is just 3.5yrs old, a holland lop,…[Read more]
