Bun Jovi does this! He does it often actually, it’s pretty funny. He’s also 13 so I really can’t blame him!

I agree this sounds like a medical issue. 5 years is too young for it to be “old age” related. I would get a second opinion if you can, and possibly treat for EC as a precaution if other issues are ruled out.

DanaNM replied to the topic Fresh grass after heavy rain in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 5 months ago
Yes, as long as the grass is in an area where it hasn’t been sprayed with anything or near a roadside.
Also if you are in an area with RHDV it isn’t a good idea to forage for wild foods unless your rabbit is vaccinated.

Sorry just seeing this now! It’s not usually advisable to give a second pain med dose ahead of schedule without checking with the vet first. How is she doing now?

Poor Apollo! And that is so frustrating about the ER vets. I hope your normal vet is more helpful!

I agree, 14 days since her stitches were redone sounds correct!

LBJ10 replied to the topic weeds and grasses? in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 5 months ago
I guess it depends on what the weeds are. Many common lawn weeds, like clover and dandelion, are perfectly safe. The biggest worry would be if pesticides or herbicides had been used on the lawn.
Here is a list of plants that are not safe for rabbits: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Toxic_plants

I recently got an X-Pen for when I travel and I figured I could use it to take my bun outside as well! My only concern is winston will likely eat different weeds in my yard. Are these safe for him to eat? I know the grasses are because I’ve given it to him plenty times before.

Wondering how I should proceed next. The kitchen was way less hassle to get them in as I didn’t have to pick either of them up, but maybe having it back in the bathroom is safer as it will be more neutral and not have the association of them having issues. Also how should I deal with Miu when she gets worked up about not getting groomed by…[Read more]

Hmm… I would suggest having him assessed further to see if you can get to the real cause of this. If he has kidney or bladder stones, there are therapies for that (fluids, diet changes, etc.). If he has EC, then you can treat with Panacur. We have seen some urinary incontinence-only EC cases here on the forum, so it isn’t unheard of.

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Copy of cage for bunny?? in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 5 months ago
A rabbit being allergic to hay is sort of unheard of — it is the main part of their diet (70%+ of what should be eaten in a day). I would have your rabbit assessed by a rabbit-experienced exotic vet for a potential URI or other ailments which cause snuffles and watery eyes. If it is from hay dust irritation, you can switch to orchard hay, which…[Read more]

Hi i have a year old angora mix lionhead rabbit and we found out she is allergic to hay (sneezing and watery eyes) so the thing is my rabbit lives free roam in my room and because the size is small the ventilation is kinda bad so my bunny will start sneezing badly once the allergies kick in. So to avoid seeing her suffering i got to shift her out…[Read more]

Vet kind of made us think it was just ‘old age’ but no generally he’s very happy, eating lots of hay and greens. He drinks a lot of water which Apprently is a sign of kidney issues. It’s almost like he’s lost control of his bladder 🙁

There are treatments for “kidney issues”, it just depends on what the cause is (kidney/bladder stones, EC, etc.). Did the vet say anything else? Does he have any other symptoms?

Hi, I’m looking for some advice as I’m literally at breaking point with my buns. We have had Smudge for two years and we bonded him with Pud a 1 year on. They are both neutered. They are absolutely in love, they are inseparable. Since we got Pud, Smudge has always had accidents but now they are very regular and as they are house bunnies we can…[Read more]

Oh no! I’m sorry Apollo is having problems now too. It is frustrating when you go through the expense and trouble of taking them to an emergency vet and then they essentially don’t do anything. Hopefully you can get him into his regular vet soon.

It does take awhile for ear mites to get to large enough numbers to where you see noticeable symptoms. It’s very possible she got them at the store, especially if other rabbits were there.

In regards to my rabbit’s age, I am afraid I do not know. The pet store I originally purchased my rabbit from gave me conflicting information on several occasions. I was first told she was 8-9 weeks old, after purchasing her and taking her home, and I called them for…[Read more]
