If he was going to do it again, I suppose it’s good it happened at the vet. Seizures can be caused by several things, so it’s good she is trying to pinpoint the actual cause. If nothing is found, then it doesn’t hurt to treat with Panacur just to be on the safe side.

If it were me, I would just watch him. It could have just been an isolated incident. If he keeps having poopy butt, then you may need to reevaluate his diet. Perhaps a veggie isn’t agreeing with him.

…and he had an episode while he was in there. Ultimately that’s good that they got to see it first hand. They’re running bloods just to double check organ function. She said she’s not going to treat yet unless he has another at home again. A little frustrating but as she seems to think they’re seizures rather than symptoms of E.c or an ear…[Read more]

Gotcha! I was just checking because sometimes too many pellets can cause some extra soft poops.
Arugula is a great staple veg. My buns also love escarole/endive and bok choy. 🙂

He doesn’t like pellets unless theyre alfalfa so I kind of gave up on those once he was out of the baby stage and I found out he was so picky. When he gets his salad its usually about half a cup. I did for awhile try him out on Romaine and he wasn’t a fan, he does really like arugula though.
And thank you for the link! That was really helpful 🙂

The vet didn’t have an appointment available but they said they could squeeze him in for a drop-off consult. So he’s there now, they have the history from the ER vet and the vet will give me a call for more info once she gets time to do her assessment of him.
Just wait and see I guess, there’s not really much to assess him on unless he has an episode.

Bedtime, Oscar HATES when its time for me to go to bed. He takes to nipping and attacking my ankles until i lay down on the floor then he flops against me. And then when i do manage to get out his 3m x 4m enclosure its “rattle rattle rattle” on the bars and throws his ball with a bell in, around on the hard floor.
if i am home he insists and tan…[Read more] -

Most rabbits don’t like to be held, you’re right. When you got him it sounds like he was in bad shape and was likely in poor health (thank you for rescuing him, btw!).
Can you describe his housing set up and his daily routine? If he is handled every day, he could be learning to resent it as he grows older.
The best way to interact with your bun…[Read more]

True diarrhea is liquid. I’m also guessing it was maybe a cecotrope that got smashed, or a soft cecotrope.
Does he eat pellets? How much salad does he get?
Also FYI, spinach is not good to feed every day due to high oxalate content. You can read about safe veggies and the ratio of high oxalate veggies that you can include here:…[Read more]

Hi! Thank you for the reply! So. He is a little less than a year old (he was a stray so the vet gave me a ball park age) his diet is almost entirely small pet select 2nd cutting timothy hay mixed with Oxbow timothy hay. Although I have been trying him out on small pet select 3rd cutting hay over the less couple of weeks, which he definitely…[Read more]

If this is feet flicking, as Wick suggested, could you try using a different litter? Perhaps what you’re using isn’t absorbent enough.

True diarrhea is rare. Since he has normal poops, I would think this is more likely a mushy cecotrope. How old is he? What is his diet like? It could be that something just caused an upset.

Hello!
So my little guy has been behavior normally- playing, eating drinking pooping normally and then I noticed he left behind a little smudge of what appears to be diarrhea. He’s still acting pretty normally and he hasn’t gone again yet so I don’t know if he’ll do it again but is something I should be worries about? Does he need a vet…[Read more]

Me too it definitely helps, unfortunately not and of course that’s the sad point, however knowing all I do now, is invaluable to me and I find comfort in the fact that I can try and prevent other’s from going through the same thing in his memory and in honor of Milo. I find comfort in the fact that through research and so many knowledgeable rabbit…[Read more]

I also forgot to add, Biofilm is a nasty substance that grows in water and creates a nasty slime feel. This biofilm can harbor a host of bacteria including pseudomonas, so making sure to regularly disinfect, keep pet bowls, dishes, water bottles and even our own water bottles with a bleach solution is good practice.

I would stick to the bathroom for now, the kitchen seems like a better “semi-neutral” spot.
You didn’t mess up! Don’t be afraid if things get a bit testy before they improve again, that’s totally normal. It seems like most buns have a period of nipping and sorting things out while they establish their relationship. Miu said “I groomed you, now…[Read more]
