Are there any other stressors going on or have they always been this way? My bonded pair started the chasing and lunging during food times when there was new bunnies in the house. I moved them to new area of the house and it completely stopped in a few days.

I use vinyl as well, and although it’s textured enough for them to walk on, they need blankets or rugs on top to be able to run on it.

I’m so sorry for your loss. 🙁 Thank you for the update, even though it’s a sad one.
I’m glad to hear that Junior is doing OK and he has a new friend. <3

I agree with Wick, that positioning sounds like he’s having trouble breathing.

Maybe it’s a sound that they happen to recognize and like I just remember always playing music for my first rabbit Snowball and he never really did anything but Stewart recognizes it a lot.

Stewart<3 started the topic stiff? in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 5 months ago
Hi, so every time Stewart sees me he stiffs up as if I’m a predator trying to get him when I’m not like I could be minding my own business and then he sees me, and he’s stiff is this normal, or is there something I can do to make him feel safer?

It can be a personality mismatch AND there can be a way around it. You can try separating them just at food times temporarily.

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Upward tilt and breathing fast with mouth slightly open in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 5 months ago
Tilting up and mouth breathing are generally signs that your rabbit is having difficulty breathing. This may be from a respiratory infection, something going on in the nasal cavity, or really anything impacting the processes that go into breathing.
If not severe, it may not need an emergency vet visit, but if there is any hint or worry on your…[Read more]

My Rex bunny started putting his head up (not sideways) and has his mouth slightly open and is breathing fast since Thurs. night. No sounds, wheezing, just sticking his nose up and breathing faster. He was eating fine last night but is refusing some food this morning. I have tried to research on the web but can’t find an answer for this unusual…[Read more]

Must be wonderful to have wildlife like that in your yard, how exciting! We just have a big, fat rat 🤣
Congrats on the new job Bladesmith, I’ve been at the same job for over a decade so I’d be terrified starting anything new.
It’s been a very long week here, work was crazy due to stocktake which means longer shifts and hours all over the place,…[Read more]

I’m so sorry you lost Bella. She was truly gorgeous!
I too have lost buns because they fell ill on the weekend. I’m pretty sure at least one of them could have been saved if he could’ve been seen by a proper rabbit vet. I would’ve lost my Vilde too if he hadn’t had the sense to get sick on a Tuesday morning.
(btw the last two links, I need to…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Smelly rabbit poop in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 5 months ago
Yes, linked poop mans there’s some sort of gut slowdown. It is often related to shedding. A gut slowdown can cause gas build-up. It’s not uncommon that a splotch or sticky lump is the first poop a bun has after a bout off gas/gut slowdown.

Thank you Wick.
Its all the memories we wanted to make as well that makes it hard. For example I was saving up for a bunny castle that she could use as the ramp was low and she loved things like that!
I try not to think of what ifs but I’ve had the same thing happen twice now, which is loosing a bunny because no exotics vets were available for…[Read more]

Update! The buns are doing great and the bond was never broken after their surgeries; in fact we never had to fully separate them -

Okay so this happened. My bun was pressing her tummy to the floor in the evening. I immediately gave her gas drops and tummy massage. It seemed to help because she immediately went to the litterbox. She left there a whole lot poops linked together with fur along with perfect golden poops.
Could this be the problem that the linked poops and fur…[Read more]
