Bam replied to the topic Paralization after neuter? (Not my bunny btw) in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 4 months ago

I can’t say that this person is lying, but there is no aspect of  a neuter that would render a bun paralysed. A rabbit neuter is minimally invasive, the bun is put under and the incisions made are nowhere near the spinal cord. The neuter only involves the testicles, which are not even inside the abdominal cavity.

If a bunny comes back paralysed…[Read more]

I was reading reviews for a vet (her practice is on TV so I got curious to see what people said) and this one person said that when they brought their bunny home from a neuter he was paralyzed from the waist down and died the next day and I was wondering if this is possible or do you think they were lying?

I’m sorry! I hope you’ll get help soon!

It looks more like a tumor than an abscess to me, but it’s difficult to assess a growth like that from photos.

Still have not heard what is wrong and this was the only emergency vet willing to see a rabbit after hours.

There is some sort of abcess or growth that popped up in the front of my rabbits mouth. My rabbit is neutered male, 10 years old and was checked out by a vet 3 months ago who said he was fine. He seemed his normal self. Honestly, I don’t k…[Read more]

    Hi guys.

Been here before but wanted to check back in on a new situation.

Can give further historic detail if required but don’t want to overwhelm with text. DanaNM if you’re reading, you know all about it!

The issue is, I have a 2 year old female called Phil. I adopted a neutered male of unknown age (doesn’t look to be senior, most likely…[Read more]

    Oh wow!

The impact is considerably higher when a bun jumps down than when they jump up on something, so it’s good if there is at least a rug that he can land on. The best thing would be if there were a middle station like a chair , but that would obviously encourage more table-walking. It could be that jumping up on the table is something he’ll…[Read more]

So it’s been 3 weeks since I adopted Archie and he has gained. So much muscle. Story time, I was putting fresh hay in his litter box, which I’d placed on a table around 3 ft high because if I don’t, he’ll attempt to sit in the litter box while I refill it. Which doesn’t work. Anyways, he had this real anime moment: he’d never been able to jump…[Read more]

Thanks for the advice! And he seems to be perfectly fine, his behavior is completely normal and there’s no signs of injury or pain.

Theres not a vomplete blocksge if there is poop. You can give simethicone gas drops on suspicion of indigestion – it might not help but it wont harm. A bun should produce at least 200 poops per 24 hours.

That’s really something that your vet would best be able to advise you on. Did you have him checked over? Changes like that can have underlying health causes. It could be an issue of your female’s health too if she’s putting off hormones that are encouraging your male.

    update:

after doing some research I found a discussion about giving small doses of melatonin to small animals to balance testosterone.

so I gave it a try @ 1mg per day for my little guy. after 2-3 days his sex-pest behavior stopped, completely… like a switch was flipped.

he doesn’t seem to be affected in any other way, still active and alert…[Read more]

We did send off samples of Bonnie’s liver to a pathologist because it looked really unhealthy according to the exotics specialist. AFAIK, they did not find RHDV or anything else of note in testing, just a lot of really bruised and necrotic tissue. She’s really convinced that it was a LLT. I’m certainly no vet and obviously very new to rabbits, so…[Read more]

Okay thank you- so it is probably no reason to be concerned and doesn’t mean that he has a blockage? When I got home last night I replaced his litter box and there were probably 30-40 normal poops when I woke up this morning at 6 am
