Yes my vet is on the list of rabbit savvy vets in my area, however the fact they tell me she cannot have another option of antibiotic is strange to me. I rang up and asked for an alternative antibiotic, and suggested that we try baytril, to which she told me she wouldn’t prescribe as it wasn’t recommended for rabbits. I explained my other Rab…[Read more]

You could try getting a hepa filter to clean the air in your bunnies room. It takes out pollen, dust, other bad stuff in the air etc.

So my little guy loves green romaine but there’s the red romaine mixed in and I wasn’t sure if he could eat that or not.  Does anyone have experience with this?

    Thank you!

As Dana says, young pets will do pretty much anything to get your attention. Any and all attention is better than no attention. This is why an angry or annoyed response won’t deter the (young) pet -the attention is rewarding in itself. You dont even have to actually do anything – a sigh and/or annoyed glance are enough to reinforce the annoying…[Read more]

Even if you need to move spaces when sessions get longer, I think starting out in your bathroom for at least the short sessions would work well. Even if Kyoshi has been in there a couple times, it would still be more neutral than your room. Rabbits are super smell-oriented, and a bathroom can more easily be wiped down with vinegar and smell…[Read more]

I understand! The teenage bunny years can be stressful! Is there a particular thing he’s been destroying? Perhaps we can give some additional bunny-proofing tips. I like to use NIC cube grids to block of problem areas.

If he rattles his pen bars (and drives you crazy), you can try clipping a sheet or towel over the pen wall with binder clips.…[Read more]

My young girl bun gets fresh apple twigs every day. This is obviously difficult to achieve unless you know someone who has pesticide-free apple trees that get pruned in the spring. There are plenty of other trees that are bunny safe, though. Willow works almost as well as apple, and willows are practically never treated with pesticides.

    I also…[Read more]

Thank you both for your comments. He’s not 100% free roam. He goes in a pen at night and lately has only been allowed out for 3-4 hours a day cause he’s so destructive. But of course he’ll throw temper tantrums if he’s been in his pen too long.

I’ve tried all of those toys, he can really tear through those cardboard cat scratchers, I think I b…[Read more]

I might be able to do a bathroom. The issue is my bathroom is attached to my room and while Kyoshi was not allowed in there but every once in a while she sneaks in with me when I go in. I can ask for my roommates bathroom but I’m not sure they would be okay with using it for bonding. The issue with the kitchen is it is not very big and there is an…[Read more]

    Ah, I understand!

What about using a bathroom or kitchen for bonding? Bathrooms or bathtubs tend to work well because they are easy to clean and most buns don’t spend a lot of time there, and it would be easy enough to keep the dog out of there while you were working with them.

I think the basement set up sounds find for temporary housing, and I…[Read more]

Hi, sorry for the confusion. I meant the same large pen, each on their own side not together. My biggest concern is that if one is out and one is in the pen they will get jealous of each other.

Kyoshi gets very frustrated very quickly. She also gets extremely cage aggressive. To the point where putting her food down leads to biting and lunging at…[Read more]

Many rabbits are not good candidates for free-roam, especially when young! I know that many prominent social media folks have been promoting free-roam as the “only” way to have a happy rabbit, but this just isn’t the case.

Before resorting to rehoming, I recommend getting a pen set-up for your bun, and switch to only doing supervised exercise…[Read more]

I can understand why you are so stressed, rabbits can be a lot, especially in the teenage age bracket they are really full-on exploring everything, digging and chewing everything.

For now one thing I might suggest trying is to get a puppy playpen or exercise pen, make sure it’s fairly tall probably 100cm because at his age he’s probably likely to…[Read more]

I’ve never rehomed an animal. I’ve had multiple dogs and hamsters throughout my life, but this is my first bunny. I love him and he has his sweet moments, but my life revolves around him and not in a good way.

He’s 8 months old and was neutered two months ago. He’s litter box trained but recently started marking and pooping an insane amount.…[Read more]
