It doesn’t matter what things your bunnies have they will still chew things like the bars of there cage, unless they are at risk of hurting themselves or causing annoyance I would leave them to it.

I bunny proofed my house and now the bunnies love tugging and pulling on the wire mesh I put on the door frames and baseboards to stop them from…[Read more]

    Hey everyone,

So, I am a reasonably experienced Bunny owner, and I’ve completely exhausted my google searches, which aren’t weak.

We have two bunnies, Schneeglöckchen (brown/black, 1-year-old, female, lionhead, will be sterilized on Monday) and Bun Bun (black/white, 1-year-old, male, mini-rex, castrated).  They live inside the house with us, t…[Read more]

Shes okay. I think how fast Glenn bounced back is making her seem even worse… I have read females can take longer to come back around.

She is a bit more awake and flopping now which is nice, she will take treats and nibble forage here and there but thats about it, her appetite is still quite poor and she needs reminding to eat but she is…[Read more]

How is she doing now? It’s not uncommon for a rabbit to be pretty out of it after anestesia. The important thing is to make sure they arent cold (anestesia can cause hypothermia) and to get them back to eating.

Sorry I hadn’t answered,  we got them from a friend who’s bunnies came from a pet shop, they were supposed to be 2 females but one ended up being a male, they then had 2 litters and I got mine from the 2nd litter. They had a child who was a bit rough with Lennon (cradling her like a baby on her back 🙁 )  but I don’t remember her being dropped…[Read more]

I took him to the vet recently because he wasn’t pooping and they said he looked fine, it was just a case of dehydration from possible stress. They said his blood work came back all good and they didn’t think he had any blockages. Should I still take him back?

    Thanks for your replies!

Its quite reassuring to know that burrs can be fairly routine for some buns and continue into old age!

Both buns have had their surgeries today and both were successful!

Im a little worried about recovery. Glenn has bounced back really well, already eating hay but Nellie is very quiet, very sleepy, I’ve given her a…[Read more]

If he isn’t eating his hay and his poops are smaller, it sounds like he is having some gastric distress. Some buns will dig more and have more food selectivity when they are in pain (I had one bun that would become obsessed with eating only cardboard when his was having a GI slowdown).

You can try giving him a tummy rub, and offer a big pile of…[Read more]

Hmm, I think you should follow up with the vet on this, and maybe get a second opinion if the vet isn’t taking it seriously! It’s possible that he had an “incomplete” neuter due to some abnormalities with his reproductive organs.

That said, mounting in bonding sessions is normal, and would appear the same as mounting for reproduction. Some…[Read more]

I’m really glad they’re helping, Dana.

Yes, it is so hard.  But you have good instincts, and it sounds like you have a good plan.  Keep us posted!  Hugs to you.

He seems like he’s okay? His poop is a bit smaller than normal and has been for a day or so now. I gave him some metacam but I have no idea if that will help or not. He also doesn’t seem interested in hay, just treats and pellets and willow wood toys. Is his poop small because he has too many wooden toys?

Thank you BZOO. I’m sorry about your Aussie. I believe me and my bun are welcoming to another bunny. I will make sure to look into some shelters!

Thank you! Your response makes a lot of sense and I will make sure to look into the fostering. I think my bunny does fall in the more “needier” range so I will look into some shelters. Thank you for your response!

    Thank you <3

He had slightly more energy and appetite last night and this morning, and didn’t get as messy overnight, so it does seem like the pain meds are helping a bit. Still not like he was a couple weeks ago though.

It really is so hard to know what to do when they give you glimpses of their old self, but I’m keeping track of good and bad…[Read more]
