Ah maybe you’re onto something.. I said “treats” but really it’s just normal pellets (oxbow) that they go nuts over. I sprinkle about a tablespoon or so in their foraging mat a few times a day. I could try to adhere to a stricter feeding schedule for the pellets, maybe just once a day after their breakfast salad. I usually also give them actual…[Read more]

    Ahh that’s too bad. 🙁

The aggression around petting is concerning, but it’s good that it doesn’t escalate and she has a safe hide to retreat to. Just to cover all the bases, have there been any changes in your household or any changes in the bun’s health?

I’ve never heard of this happening around training, but I’m wondering if perhaps he could…[Read more]

Hi again. Just wanted to update this. The problem has unfortunately been getting worse. I stopped with the training since it was stressing me out, and found a “safe” way to give them treats together. I found that if they are foraging together, he is not as aggressive and they can both get treats.

Lately he has also been aggressive towards her…[Read more]

I agree with Bam! Rabbits are “crepuscular” by nature, meaning they are most active at dawn and dusk. When I had to share a room with my buns I swapped out their toys for “quiet toys” for overngiht  (such as grass or paper mats and twigs, baskets, etc) and gave them the louder toys (cardboard boxes, palm plates) during the day when I was at…[Read more]

Yes fruits and things like carrot should be very rare and a small piece. If it’s very yummy, it will still be very rewarding to them even if it’s only a small piece. 🙂  I really only give my buns fruit as a very special treat, such as after a nail trim.

He didn’t seem too upset about the hair dryer itself, it was more the fact that I had to touch his bum so much to floof up the fur to help it dry more quickly (he hated having his bum touch). They were stressful times tbh, but it fell under the “tough love” category that sometimes happens with pet care.

I had to do them often with him so I got…[Read more]

There really isn’t a way to deal with spores in the environment, unfortunately. I’m not actually sure how long they last in the environment though. The best you can do is be on alert for a relapse of symptoms. It’s not uncommon for EC buns to need another round of treatment occasionally.

Fingers crossed he does well with the new antibiotic!

With my dydbiosis bun Bam, I pretty much used the method in the HowCast video in Dana’s post, with 2 differences:

    1) I had the litterbox/wash basin on the floor, in the bathroom. If the bun decides to hop out of the bath, it wont be a big drop to the floor. Plus inside the bathroom any mess that might occur will be manageable. 2) I let Bam…[Read more]

I didn’t use the hair dryer. He was way too upset. I just dried him with towels as best I could but his poor little legs were so wet.

My dysbiosis bunny eats dried herbs as treats, like sage, mint, dried bunny safe flowers and his favorite, dandelion greens. You can buy them in bulk and a couple of 1 lb bags of herbs should last you a while. This has low to no sugar in it and hopefully would clear up the issue without depriving them completely of treats 🙂

Hi dianaberry, I’m locking this thread now because it’s so old. I replied to you in your own thread on the topic, hopefully others too will read it and offer suggestions! 🙂

I know this is an old thread, but I am having the exact same problem with my bunny. She wakes me up 4am on the dot. Regardless of if she has food or not. It’s so frustrating.

This time of year (if you’re in the Northern hemisohere), dawn occurs around 3-4. Your bun probably considers 4 am morning and high time for mom to get out of bed.

I’d try very dark curtains, like blackout curtains, if you can’t put her in another room where her activities can’t bother any humans. I currently banish my two young buns to my…[Read more]

I have a 4 month old female bunny that is free roamed in my room. The problem is, she wakes me up around 4AM every day by jumping on my bed and I don’t know what to do. She has plenty of hay, and water so I’m unsure why she does this.

    hi guys,

Back again with perhaps a stupid question. Wolf finishes his treatment this week (I decided to treat for 5 weeks vs 4 weeks as he has tolerated it very well). I have cleaned their area with a 10% diluted bleach solution, but they are also allowed playtime outside in the garden – how do I get rid of spores outside? How long do spores last…[Read more]

I use the method shown here:

I use either my bathroom sink or a tub like the one shown in the vid, with just an inch or 2 of water and a towel at the bottom for some traction. I hold the front end up so only the bum ends up in the water. Then I towel dry and blow dry on a low…[Read more]
