I am so so sorry. 🙁 This is so tragic. I also want to let you know that you may not get very many responses because the forum is still under construction, but all of us here understand your loss.
What you describe sounds like it may have been Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease. It is a virus that they vaccinate against in some parts of the world, but…[Read more]

I don’t know why I’m posting I know no one can tell me only a vet but I’m driving my self mad looking at illnesses, thinking about what I could of missed, what I should have done differently.
So sad can’t stop crying, I’ve had to move all the pictures of my buns of my phone because I can’t bear looking at them. People without rabbits don’t seems…[Read more]

Hello 🙂
So, you already mentioned the most important thing, patience. 🙂 How long have you been working with them so far? Did you do any prebonding to help them acclimate to each other?
From what you describe, there is a good chance your current strategy will work with a bit more time, if their behavior isn’t getting worse over time (sounds…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Litter box Training: How many droppings outside the box are normal? in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 5 months ago
Hi there, welcome 🙂
So, depending on the bun, some level of poops outside the box can be normal. Especially single poops scattered around, which are used to mark territory and will prob decrease with time, since the space is new.
It’s possible you may have given him a bit too much space too quickly, and he might still does have some hormonal…[Read more]

Hello everyone,
I just got my mini-lop about a month and a half ago. I looked very hard for the neediest, most affectionate bunny I could find, and to my delight, I found Ollie. Due to his intense desire for social interaction and reciprocal affection, I’d like to have him as a free-roam bunny. I believe that he’s around 6 months – 1 year old. I…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Product recommendations for Callus Sore hocks changing during social distancing in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 5 months ago
Some buns have a “thumping callus” on the back of the heel that is normal. But agree if there is an open sore or swelling (or a big change) then you will need the vet to treat it. Can you post a picture of the area you are concerned about?

Generally, no… sometimes the growth will even regress on it’s own. But there is the small risk of it becoming malignant. If it doesn’t go away on its own and you decide to have it removed, it’s probably something that can be done later on down the road. If it were to become cancerous, it would take some time to do so. I could post a link to an…[Read more]

Kira is 4 1/2 year old female. She was previously bonded to another female for several years. Her partner died last year and I’m now trying to introduce Java
Java is 2 year old male, has been a single bunny.I did a few meetings in the bathtub. Some minor scuffles but then they would take to different corners. I opted to try with…[Read more]

I would discourage you from getting a rabbit if the only way your parents would allow it is if it lived outdoors. Plus, I’m doubtful a rescue will allow you to adopt a rabbit (or pair) if they knew your intentions were to house it outside.
I do agree with JG, if you foster a rabbit, it will give you the opportunity to have a rabbit live inside…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Rabbit buddies in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 5 months ago
Some bunnies do well as single bunnies, others do better with a companion… and others don’t necessarily care either way, while others REALLY don’t want a companion. In general though, most bunnies are just fine as single bunnies. You can always start out with just one, develop a bond with them, and then get them a friend later on down the road…[Read more]

Hi! i am considering adopting a rabbit once this whole pandemic is over and i am wondering if it would be ok to just get one. i have a job and won’t be interacting with the bunny but since their crepuscular, i thought it would be fine. also, please keep in mind that i plan to free roam and once i am home, the rabbit will have me all to himself. i…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Could my bunny have megacolon ? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 5 months ago
You bunny is all black, correct? If so, then he would be en en, not En En. En En is what people often refer to as a Charlie. They are almost all white, with color on their nose and ears. Megacolon is tied to the “broken” gene, which creates the broken/spotted pattern in rabbits. Two copies of the dominant form (En) is what puts a rabbit at risk of…[Read more]
