DanaNM replied to the topic Bunnies are fighting and we don't know what to do! in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 5 months ago
Your decision. Just to clarify (to make sure my last post wasn’t misconstrued), in general bonded pairs do not just start fighting for no reason. There is most always a trigger, and true bonds breaking is very rare (common reasons are a vet visit or illness of a partner, but this is also rare). The pair I had fight were not truly bonded, which I…[Read more]

Autumn replied to the topic How to get rabbit to eat hay in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 5 months ago
Yes I just took him back to the vet yesterday for a 10 day checkup following the molar trimming and she said the inflammation was greatly reduced and he looks really good. I’ve tried playing with the hay in front of his face, he likes the fluffy timothy hay pieces but usually only eats half of it and then leaves the rest. I’ll try refreshing it…[Read more]

At this point they are just babies, so it’s hard to know how they will be when they get older!
Fabric in general is iffy for buns. Some pee on it, some eat it (which is very dangerous), and others are fine with it.
It can be very cute to see bunnies all snuggled up with blankets and beds, but sometimes it’s just not possible. My girl Bertha was…[Read more]

Second what others have said. This should all get better once he’s neutered.
Puppy pee pads are really awesome for protecting floors, assuming he’s not a crazy chewer (you don’t want buns to eat them). You could confine him to an x-pen with the floor lined with pee-pads (which also absorb smells) to protect the floor.
Also, the litter box…[Read more]

Hi there,
Did the vet confirm that his teeth are all ok? Dental problems will prevent rabbits from eating hay because their teeth hurt. The back molars are often the problem and can only be seen fully when the rabbit is under anesthesia.
I’ve noticed my rabbits eat more hay when it is refreshed frequently, and fluffed up in enticing piles in the…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Walking my house rabbit on a leash in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 5 months ago
Hi Leasch,
Although they sell harnesses for rabbits, and you will see lots of people on instagram walking their rabbits, harnesses can be very dangerous for rabbits. As you experienced, accidents can happen and they can get injured very easily. If a rabbit spooks while on a harness and leash, they can injure their backs.
It is really great that…[Read more]

What types of things does he normally go for (aside from tooth brush handles lol)? That might give a clue as to the types of toys he might like. I second that phone books are awesome, unfortunately they are harder to come by!
Cardboard boxes with holes cut in the side and stuffed with paper can be very fun for bun-struction. Some of my more…[Read more]

I wonder if she can hear something that you can’t? Certain high-frequency sounds can be very upsetting to rabbits that we can’t hear. Any new electronics or changes around your household or neighbors?

We don’t have most of those trees down here but I do have loquat and red maple. Problem is Beau could care less for wood. I have store bought apple sticks, blocks, nah….just give me the cardboard. Thank you amazon!
Is there a way to remove chemicals from store bought roses? I saw a youtube dry them to make treats. Vinegar and water?

Hi there,
How do you get your rabbit on a leash the second time?
I got Loofah two weeks ago. He is the most loveable rabbit and loves being patted. He does however not like being picked up and the vet mentioned I should work on this too when he got hi filavac vaccine.
He is a Flemish giant, docile and very friendly although he doesn’t like…[Read more]

I dont know about elder. It’s a common plant where I live. The whole plant is somewhat toxic, but the flowers and berries are edible for humans. I havent tried elderflower on anybunny, but my bunny Bam liked dried elderberries a lot. I only gave a few per day though.
There are many bunny-safe trees, apple and pear and willow, of course, but also…[Read more]
