Ha! True knowledge exists in knowing that you know nothing.
thank you for the info- we do have water hemlock down here and it does look almost identical.
And it turns out what is growing in my yard is dog fennel, which has pyrrolizidine and is considered toxic over time.

I have had my pet rabbit for about 4 months now. She extremely loving and sweet. This is my first time as a bunny owner. With that being said there is still alot I need to learn. Lately I have been very stressed about her diet lately. Here is the diet.
8:30am/9:00am-Bowl of Veggies
12:00am/12:30am-SNACK TIME!!(HALF OF BANANA/OR BARE APPLE…[Read more]

Have you tried providing them with treats??
Also you may need to spend some time getting the new bun in a more comfortable state.

If it was tiny, then it probably wasn’t a brown dog tick. Those are the size of an apple seed. Do you have a flea comb? You could use one to part the fur to look for ticks. If the tick that was on you was already attached, then it’s unlikely it would have wanted to transfer to another host. You found it and disposed of it, so there probably isn’t…[Read more]

Another update!! I tried your advice about a large area with hideouts and it worked perfectly!! They’re not totally bonded yet but they have been flopping next to eachother and Theo even groomed Nora’s head a little the other day! They’re fine with sharing food and aren’t territorial about the litterboxes at all. Nora still runs away from him a l…[Read more]

What kind of tick was it? Brown dog ticks tend to be less numerous, plus they are bigger and easier to find. Black legged ticks are smaller and harder to find.

If you decide to keep them together for now, I would recommend having a backup in place. If they do end up needing to be separated, you don’t want to be scrambling for things to change their setup. Something that could be reused later is the grids that are used to make storage cubes. They can be assembled in any configuration you like so you could…[Read more]

I agree with Dana. There is definitely a risk of injury with harnesses. If you decide to proceed, do so with extreme caution. I would definitely not use one of those H harnesses. A rabbit can slip out of them way too easily. A vest would be better because they can’t slip out of it and get a limb caught. But, again, it won’t prevent a back injury…[Read more]

Poison hemlock, in particular, comes to mind. People have been poisoned mistaking it for wild carrot. One identifying characteristic is the purple botching on the stems. There are others, but that is what is common around here. I wouldn’t want anyone (or any bun) to end up like Socrates.

That is really encouraging though! If he just had his trim he is prob still a bit sore, but as the inflammation keeps going down he will likely eat more and more.
I would say keep up the CC as needed, and keep offering him the soft fluffy hay pieces he likes.
One of the other forum moderators bunnies (Wick) has bad teeth and is picky about hay,…[Read more]
