    Hi Emma,

I moved this thread to the bonding section, as it is more relevant to the topic.

Sorry you are experiencing this, I’m sure it is very stressful. šŸ™Ā  It should be possible to repair their relationship, but you did the right thing by separating them. Was either bunny injured?

For now give them some cooling off time, which will also…[Read more]

So i have two bunnies, a male and female and they were completely bonded and absolutely loved each other until i took my male (nug) to get neutered and unfortunately i couldn’t take them to the vet together and now my female (lex) tries to attack him and has even attacked me multiple times. As of right now i have them both separated and i’m not…[Read more]

Hi! So I’ve had my Harlequin mix (Vet has mentioned she thinks shes mixed with a Rex) for 8 years now.. Shes not spayed as I was young when I got her and wasn’t familiar that you had to get rabbits spayed, she became too old and the vet said it would be too risky with her age. However shes lived a very happy life. Shes recently been having soft…[Read more]

He gets his pellets all in a bowl together, an 1/8 cup twice daily. It’s weird that he just started doing this, I have never heard him make this sound prior. Yes that is my worry that he will get a full blown choking episode. Or like you said the respiratory issue. In these last 2 weeks the noise seemed somewhat isolated, like each time I heard i…[Read more]

If it is choking and it begins to happen with increased frequency, your rabbit may experience an episode where he’s not successful as easily in dislodging it, or not successful at all. We have had cases where owners find their rabbit following an unfortunate choking episode. Some rabbits do successfully dislodge it, but damage is done to their…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Can't Determine Reasoning for 'Chronic' GI Stasis?? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 4 months ago

Some rabbits are more sensitive to certain foods than others. Perhaps trying to eliminate some of the food variety to identify a potential “culprit” may be helpful. For example, I cannot feed one of my rabbits parsley — it doesn’t make him gassy, but it makes him pee with really high pressure and high frequency. It is known to be a diuretic, but…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Aggression after spay in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 4 months ago

I agree with Hazel’s inquiry. There is a “spike” some people say following a spay/neuter, where behaviors are amplified before settling down.

Another question would be if the behavior is caused by some sort of pain or discomfort your rabbit may be experiencing as a result of the spay or something else. Many animals may feel the need to be more…[Read more]

Some x-pens that you’ll find will also sell expansion grids and such that can be latched on very securely and look like it was part of the original. Is it possible to create what you are looking for by looking at smaller sizes, then seeing what expansion panels are available?

The Midwest Home for Pets is actually that size. I just measured mine,…[Read more]

Not sure about a specific x-pen, but my favorite thing to use are storage cube grids (“neat idea cubes”) which can be connected with cable ties into whatever configuration you want. I use them a lot for temporary housing and fencing.

How long ago was she spayed? Their hormones will run wild for around a month (maybe longer) after the spay, hormone driven behaviors can actually get worse during that time.

Okay guys, we have one week left before we go to pick up our new bun bun of joy! Problem is we haven’t finished the enclosure yet! We had originally wanted to do a plexiglass and wood enclosure. We already made a nice wood floor with linoleum bottom. We can’t seem to get the plexiglass cut to the dimensions we want without cracking them. We…[Read more]
