Louiethebunny started the topic how to make my bunny sit still in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 4 months ago
soon enough i’ll be needing to clip my bunny’s nails and groom him a bit, how can I make him sit still? he’s only been with me for three weeks, so he’s not super used to me, but is there a way to keep him in one place?

They definitely chew things they’re not supposed to, particularly my girl who really likes to go for furniture and cords. They surprisingly have not tried anything else like baseboards or carpet.
They have a great appetite, my boy arguably has -too- much of an appetite because he just really likes eating. I always give them plenty for the d…[Read more]

tofu replied to the topic Bunny gagging when eating fruit? in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago
I’ve seen him do it with pieces as small as a raspberry or halved blueberry, I’ll try smaller pieces and see. I don’t know why this happens specifically with fruit though, and not other foods he has. My only guess is that he’s excited to eat them so he’s not really chewing and just swallowing too much. I’d like to keep some fruit in his diet but…[Read more]

Wick: I feel your pain, Oscar isn’t the greatest with his litter habits either. 😆
That’s too bad about the friend feature.

Rabbits don’t have a gag reflex and can’t vomit. Sounds more like he’s choking on the fruit? I wouldn’t give him any more until you can find a way to feed it to him safely without him choking (maybe cut it into very small pieces). If this keeps happening he could end up with pneumonia or even choke to death. It might be a good idea to learn how to…[Read more]

Ya that’s what I was thinking too, too bad I realize it then.
I’ll try to get him to eat more hay, I’m thinking that his diet may be the reason he got sick -

Do they tend to chew things they aren’t supposed to?
And do they have a good hay appetite? Sometimes hay satisfies most of the urge to chew and is the most important thing for teeth. If they aren’t being destructive, I wouldn’t worry too much!
That said, seagrass mats are very popular with my buns, as are the fresh willow wreaths and willow…[Read more]

That’s great! As long as you can keep supervising I would just keep them together with monitoring. Before leaving them unsupervised you should feel very confident that they are bonded. So a good amount of positive behaviors (grooming, cuddles, sharing litter box, etc.), and no negatives (they don’t flinch or get nervous when the other comes near,…[Read more]

Wow what a scare! I would keep giving the EmeriAid, it will help promote good tummy flora and keep things moving. Recovery from stasis can occur in “fits and starts” so keeping up care is important until they are 100% back to normal.
Now I wonder about when you said she hid all day and didn’t eat, maybe that was the beginning of a tummy upset…[Read more]

Update! We went on a trip and the bunnies were able to stay in the large pen together for the whole trip without fighting in any capacity so when we got back I decided not to set the pen up at all and they have been doing well. They’re more coexisting than bonded but we still get some snuggles and grooming going on from time to time. I have a h…[Read more]
