HipHopBunny replied to the topic My three female rabbits are not getting along, what should I do? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 4 months ago
As for the meantime, though, until I find a vet who can spay them, what do I do? Right now I have Silver separated because she was being way too mean. Do I continue this until and after spaying? Then re-bond them?ย Smokey and OB are doing good together, so can I leave them together? Thank you all for helping me through this difficult process.

Hello! Recently we have been working to bond two female rabbits, one of which is a three year old, large holland lop named Clover. The other is a young small lionhead named Willow.
We are housing them outdoors. We have made a fenced off area (with mesh separating them so they can see and smell each other) inside Cloverโs fenced off area (I d…[Read more]

DanaNM, my rabbit gets 1/4 cup of oxbow’s garden select young rabbit food per day, and has unlimited timothy hay. He eats lots of timothy hay every day, should i also give him higher servings of pellets? they are alfalfa and timothy based.

DanaNM replied to the topic Theo has to have his teeth burred after 2nd vet visit ๐ in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago
My Moose had to have several dental procedures (which ended up being molar extractions… he had some serious issues), and bounced back immediately after. He started eating basically as soon as he was awake, I think because his mouth felt so much better. The fact that Theo takes CC readily is great, so hopefully he will eat that as soon as he wakes up. ๐

Hi Louiethebunny, how much does he currently get, and is he a good hay eater? Does he currently get alfalfa hay and timothy? I prob should have been more specific. The general recommendation is yes, bunnies under 1 year should get unlimited young rabbit pellets (that have alfalfa in them). But a lot of people do not do completely unlimited,…[Read more]

DanaNM, I am just hearing that young rabbits need unlimited pellets. My bun is abt 5 or 6 months, should I give him unlimited pellets?

I second cardboard and grass mats if you’ve got a chewer. If that’s his instinct, best to give him something safe to chew on that’s easy to replace. Newspaper mats are also great. ๐
Also, some bunnies also don’t mind a hard floor and actively seek out hard surfaces to lay on. Mine have a linoleum layer on the bottom level of their condo and they…[Read more]

Young bunnies (under a year) do typically need unlimited pellets (alfalfa) of alfalfa hay, so if that hasn’t been the case then she might be underweight, but what you describe does not sound underweight to me… My vet tends to prefer bunnies on the leaner side, so if you are very concerned I think it would be best to have your vet feel her and…[Read more]

I can’t see any ribs, and they are quite hard to feel. But that picture probably isn’t the best from side on. They say it should feel like a pocket full of pens but this bunny feels like a very padded pocket full of pens Hahaha. the only bits of her I can really feel is a little bit of spine but it generally feels rounded, and the hips but her…[Read more]

You’re right that it can be hard to identify healthy versus underweight with just photos. She does look lean to me, and generally we do not want to see ribs, which I feel like maybe I can see some in that second to last photo, though it could be the fur lighting.
I am pretty vigilant about weight with both my rabbits for different reasons. For my…[Read more]

To an extent, you may need to experiment with what may or may not be interesting to your rabbit.
I use very tight/short-looped carpet squares from the hardware store– the kind that people use to remodel basements and stuff. The carpet is really tough to bite against because it’s very tightly knit, and that has worked with one of my rabbits who…[Read more]

Hey, I’ve been here a few times now and the advice has always been spot on. I’m basically worried that my baby Whinnie is underweight. ๐ When I got her from pets at home they said she was roughly 4 months old, and I have had her since late February – taking her to 8 months maximum. I thought she was an English spot but after further research I…[Read more]

Rabbits love to shred and chew. To ease the chewing, you could try different chew toys to see if they like toys better than the fabric.
