Louiethebunny started the topic baby bunny in the forum BONDING 6 years, 3 months ago
I’m hoping to adopt a baby bunny later this year, and I was wondering how to go about keeping he/she with my current 7 mo male rabbit. Louie is free-roam with an xpen, and I know baby bunnies cannot form true bonds, so would I keep them separate or let them interact? I was thinking I could keep the baby in the xpen and have Louie free roam then…[Read more]

In my only (ongoing) bonding experience, the litterbox brought in challenges and I ended up removing it until I felt more comfortable with them in the current context. Even if it’s a completely neutral box, it invites being claimed as a space, and that may bring about defensiveness and aggression.

As soon as I saw Louie’s pictures I immediately thought “chocolatey”. I guess I wasn’t the only one ๐
Dorian is too handsome to go to bed early!

A&B: Welcome back! ๐ย Thanks for the update on your little guys. I’m glad to hear they’re mostly doing well, hopefully something can be done for Bombur’s eye. That’s too bad the bond didn’t work out, but it’s nice that they still enjoy each other’s company through the divider. ๐
And some good news, my phone works again! ๐

Wow, sounds like they were just after your money. If you already had an exam done then you shouldn’t have to come in again just for a consultation. Blood tests aren’t necessary either unless there is an underlying issue or concerns about age. Back when I was getting ready for Oscar’s neuter I called several vets that I had never been to for a…[Read more]

I haven’t tried this with rabbits, but I’ve been giving CBD to my elderly ferret for close to a year now. He has age related spinal issues, an old hip injury as well as Insulinoma. It seems to help keep him comfortable (and I’m hoping it slows down the cancer as well). Similar to the Meloxicam, the medication he is on to combat the effects of the…[Read more]

Things do settle down as we’re in there longer. Usually she’ll nip a lot at the beginning and eventually it seems like she just gets tired and starts ignoring him which is why I wanted to try it. When she stops being rude is when he likes to groom her. Would a litter box be ok if it was fresh? I have one that’s not been used yet.ย But I could…[Read more]

Do things tend to settle down as time goes on in the 2 hour sessions? If so then I think it’s fine to go for it, as it might be good for them to work past the nippy phase.
I like to give wet greens in longer sessions to as a source of water. I usually don’t do litter boxes at the phase your in, but will put down a pee-pad with a big pile of hay…[Read more]

I wanted to do a long date, like 8 hours, on Saturday and just wanted to make sure nobody thinks it’s a terrible idea. My trio is at a point where each bunny has groomed each other bunny more than once. Clover is still quite nippy though, especially towards one of the boys. They have both groomed each other, but she’s also still taking out hair…[Read more]

Thank you so much, DanaNM!!ย That’s all really helpful. And great idea about the ramp!ย He kind of jumps down the stairs, not super comfortable with him, so we’ll probably do that soon.
Thanks again!!

2 weeks isnโt that much time after being neutered. Itโs honestly a matter of patience for the first 1-2 months after they are neutered. Hormones can still be all over the place for a bit.
what have you done to try to train him? Whatโs his litter box setup?
