    Hi all,

First time poster here; I’m sorry if this question has been answered elsewhere on the forum. My girlfriend is moving in and has a 4y old cat; he’s an indoor cat, very friendly and affectionate. I have two bonded bunnies that I keep in an ex-pen and they usually have several supervised hours in a day where I let them out to roam around the…[Read more]

I have several plots at a community garden and I’ve filled several beds with greens exclusively for Louie, I have a bed of lettuce, and another with carrots for the greens and parsley. I also snip some twigs off the raspberry bush for him to chew on. Every other day I full up a container of greens for him, and it’s much more inexpensive than…[Read more]

More naughty Louie? This is about the 3rd time he has peed on your bed? 😮 You definitely did well on sentencing him to his x-pen. Did you find out how he escaped? Stinker. I hope he stops- hear that Louie- peeing on your bed and being a naughty bun!

    Good luck! šŸ™‚

    Hi there,

Ive signed up to this forum just so i could post this.

My rabbit had problems with GI stasis every few weeks/months for almost 2 years and I tried EVERYTHING mentioned above over those 2 years (lots of exercise to get things moving, regular good diet with just the one type of hay (yes, even different types of hay can affect rabbits…[Read more]

So I have been sprouting all these carrot tops to hopefully be emergency veg in case RHDV hits my area hard… and they were coming along nicely. Prob had about 16-20 tops sprouting…

Then last night my cat knocked them off the table and Bonnie ate them all! Aside from a few that were trapped under the container.

She seemed very pleased with…[Read more]

I agree with Wick, since it isn’t bleeding anymore and he isn’t limping, I would just keep an eye on it. These things happen sometimes and usually heal without incident.

As for how to know whether you are cutting too close, this video has a good technique, called the “press press clip” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9KemnaTGIs&t=86s

I agree with Hazel. šŸ™‚ Since it is for a longer period, she will acclimate to the new home and will appreciate being indoors with people.

When I go on trips longer than a week or so I usually take my bunnies to their pet-sitter’s home, and they settle in after about 2 days. They don’t seem to harbor any hard feelings towards me afterward, aside…[Read more]

She will probably be stressed at first being in a new environment with new people, but I think it’s worth it to make sure she’s safe and indoors. She’s not used to living outside in a hutch either so that would be similarly stressful to her anyway. I would take your friend up on her offer. šŸ™‚

I agree with @Louiethebunny. You may read or hear about generalizations about rabbits based on their breed, but in actuality those “trends” don’t really do much when it comes down to individual rabbits. They are very often wrong, as how a rabbit is raised and the rabbit’s environment is much more influential than their breed. The same goes in…[Read more]

Firstly, a torn toenail isn’t an uncommon occurrence and from what I’ve been exposed to on the forums, generally the best course of action is “monitor for abnormalities”. It would it most cases be obvious if it was not healing productively, such as your rabbit not putting weight on the foot, noticing him licking it a lot more often, or if there…[Read more]

Probably more for reassurance but want to make sure we’re not missing something.

We were trimming our boy’s nails tonight, and were finishing up with his back one that’s always grown crooked and looks like a very thick ribbed nail as if there was previous damage (possibly previously broken? as he was adopted as a senior) – I did the one, two,…[Read more]

So I’m going to be moving soon and until we get our new house built, we need somewhere to keep my bunny. Our first idea was to get a little outdoor hunch, but a friend offered to keep hope at her place, But Hope has already warmed up to me, and is used to living in my room. Would it be too stressful for her to randomly get put in a whole new e…[Read more]

It’s hard to know a rabbit’s personality beforehand. While I believe American rabbits are known to be sweet, it really boils down to the individual rabbit. It’s good to meet with a rabbit before taking it home, as you can get a “test” of what he/she will act like.

Another day of naughty louie! I left him to run around in our room and when I returned he had peed on the bed, again! I further revoked his free-roaming privileges to only when I can supervise him, but when I left him in his pen, I came back and he had escaped! Every day is something new with this little dude. šŸ™„ šŸ™„

That’s all it really is. It doesn’t meet showing standards. The only problem I could see, if his heels are severely turned inward, would be potentially developing arthritis when he’s older. Overall though, I don’t think it would affect his quality of life.
