How does the skin underneath look? Any redness or flaking? If the skin looks good my instinct is that it’s prob a molting pattern too.
One of my bunnies is going through a real rough molt and looks like she got in a fight with a weed whacker. ๐ฎ

It is important for her to be eating pellets at this point because she is growing and needs those nutrients. Are you offering alfalfa-based pellets? Those tend to be very popular with rabbits.

Maybe just a weird molting pattern?

Iโm not sure how old exactly my new bunny is but she is definitely smaller than Kovu was when we adopted at 8 weeks old. Sheโs been eating hay nonstop and drinking a lot of water but she barely touched her pellets.

Do you know how many weeks old your other rabbit it? In short, if he/she is less than 6-8 weeks old, it is concerning that they are separated from their mother at this time and will need a different diet.
As Louie mentioned, they should be kept separate, especially if there was aggression. There is little to no benefit for trying to do dates or…[Read more]

In regards to hay, if a rabbit is not an enthusiastic hay eater, I believe they won’t “go crazy” immediately for any type of hay– it might take a couple days. For example, my second rabbit wasn’t fed many veggies at her foster situation, so it took about a week of presenting and leaving a plate in front of her each evening to finally get her to…[Read more]

“Unlimited pellets” is the typical phrase used for young rabbits. It’s found on a lot of packaging; however, that doesn’t necessarily mean giving a rabbit constant access nor an excessive amount of pellets, as that can lead to obesity, imbalanced diet, poor eating habits, poor dental maintenance, etc….. so, the idea is more along the lines of…[Read more]

Hello Wick, I give him a decent amount of hay. As of now i tried Oxbow Orchard Hay, Kaytee Timothy Hay plus Marigolds, Kaytee Timothy Wafer cut hay all went to garbage in a week. The only hay that he would eat a little bit is Alfalfa hay (he only eats soft parts) Any suggestions for a “tasty hay”?

I noticed the other day that my bunny has this area on his back where his fur is thinner. Iโm not sure how well youre able to see it through the pictures, but does anyone have any idea what it may be?

Also, I think you mentioned potentially getting a rabbit in a couple years— deciding where to adopt a rabbit is one of the very last steps of the process. I didn’t know where I was going to adopt my second rabbit until a few weeks beforehand, and at that point, I had all the necessary supplies and understanding of those living with me as…[Read more]

So the chew a bowl didn’t get his interest at all ๐ Today again i tried to mix pellets with the hay. He threw the hay away and only ate pellets. Interestingly the package says “unlimited pellets”…

@Hazel: There was more pee today, and tiffs… But there are still cuddles and grooming, so they are doing decently. ๐ Thank you for the encouragement! (I needed it with the way they are going, OB is being a brat to Smokey ๐ ) I’m glad to hear that Oscar is doing well!

You can find rescues in your area by googling “rabbit rescue near (your location)”, or “house rabbit society near (your location)”. Petfinder can also help you find rescues.

@Louiethebunny : Awesome setup! Looks like Louie loves his vantage point! ๐ย Oscar isn’t much of a climber/jumper. I only need a one grid high fence to keep him out of the kitchen. He jumped it one time because he got excited about food, but I think it was more of an accident. Once he was on the other side, he looked quite shocked and tried to…[Read more]

If the bunny is still a baby, I would keep them separated. Letting them interact young isn’t really beneficial for either, especially once baby bunny starts bunny puberty and hormone levels get high. After the new bunny is fixed, it’s good to start pre bonding for a while before starting full-on bonding sessions,

My bunny pretty much curls up and sleeps all day after I feed him his morning breakfast, and then during the evening around 6-7 pm he starts his zoomies and is super excited to run around.
