I think there is variation in rabbit shedding, especially across different fur lengths and textures. Both my rabbits have different fur types/lengths and they molt differently as well. As long as you are vigilant in daily grooming during those more heavy molts and are keeping an eye on stringy-poops, you are probably ok.

Bunnies can be neutered fairly old. 6 is definitely not too old as long as he is healthy otherwise and the vet is experienced. I would really encourage your friend to try to save up and get him neutered. It is very sad for a bunny to be confined just because he has poor litter box habits. Yeah at night they will be in their new house. We made it two levels, and its 4ft wide and 5ft long. It’s big enough for both of them. It’s definitely bigger than their cages they live in now.

If he’s molting right now it could probably be a hair ball he’s trying to pass. If he’s not eating and hasn’t pooped for more than 6+ hours, I would definitely get him to the vet so they could be sure he’s not obstructed.

I think it’s both finances, and fear of something going wrong because he’s older. I’m not sure if she has a vet either- and I know, vet checks are important.
I think the biggest thing is costs for sure though.

As Louie said, the best thing to do would be to get him neutered. Not only to help with the spraying, but to calm him down as well, he sounds pretty hormonal and probably feels a lot of sexual frustration which is stressful and unhealthy for him. You can feed a tiny bit of papaya, that won’t harm. Is this refusal to eat hay a new thing with her? Have you changed hay recently (bought a new bag)? Hay is a variable food type, palatability depends on many things such as when in the season the hay was harvested. Rabbits can be quite particular about what hay they like.

That would be totally fine too! They can still get enrichment from being around each other even if they aren’t bonded. My boys are like that. One free roam in the bedroom and the other in the living room and there’s a gate between them so they can interact.
