    @Kendall

    That is GREAT!!! 🙂 Yes, definitely keep a very close eye on them, for you never know when a fight might break out. It could be in a month, could be in a few months, you never know. But if you are there 24/7 then I would say it is good! 🙂 On the first night you put them in their new pen, I would sleep next to them to make sure that no…[Read more]

    Just an update, they have made it 52 hours without any problems. They are officially bonded!!! I am going to keep a close eye on them for the next few days just to make sure nothing develops, but I am so happy that I finally have a happy pair! Thanks again for all of the help I am so grateful!

    Some more info for you on calcium…humans, cats and dogs all poop out excess calcium which is why you’ve never seen this before. Rabbits also have a different shaped bladder where for some reason the out hole (I’m not great with anatomy, the urethra I guess) is at the top of the bladder.  So the calcium can build up in the bladder and cause…[Read more]

    He could be a bit gassy. Can you describe his diet to see if we can identify a cause?

    You can try giving a tummy rub and some simethicone (baby gas drops) as well.

    My bunnies tummy has been making loud gurgling noises for a few weeks now. At first I would hear the noises, but his behavior seemed normal. However the past few days I have noticed the his poops are either smaller or larger than normal, and he seems less active. What throws me off is that he is still eating and drinking per usual. I’m not sure…[Read more]

    @Louiethebunny Thanks 🙂

    @DanaNM Yeah probably lol. Thanks!

    @Bam Thank you! To tell the difference when I see it, alfalfa and clover have leaves on the stems?

    Where I live, all hay is a mix of various grasses. The call it “meadow hay” but its normally a mix of timothy, fescue, brome, orchard and several others.The thing to look out for if there is legume hay (alfalfa or clover) in the mix. You don’t want too much of that for adult rabbits, but its fine for young buns up to 6-7  months.

    Here is a list…[Read more]

    LOL. They prob have a variety and were not paid enough to name them all. 😉  And yes, any grass hay is good for rabbits.

    The nice thing is you don’t need to worry about transitioning between hays with bunnies like you do with their pellets if you switch types.

    As long as the vet said it’s ok then that’s fine! That’s nice you are able to communicate with them directly!

    And glad she’s pooping more. 🙂

    DanaNM replied to the topic Choosing hay for my bun. in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 1 month ago

    I can’t speak to the oat hay from Oxbow because I haven’t tried it, but my buns love the Binky Bunny oat hay (it comes in a tiny bale). They do eat all of it, but I only give them a small handful a day, in addition to timothy which is the bulk of their hay. So it is almost like a hay treat. 🙂 If I was giving them only oat I imagine they might be…[Read more]

    I think trying some different types of hay would be my next step. Some buns aren’t that into timothy but love orchard or oat. A different source or cut of timothy might also be good, as it can vary in freshness. You could also maybe reduce pellets (assuming he’s fully grown), maybe go down to 2 tablespoons. If bunnies have pellets available all…[Read more]
