FYI Petromalt is a controversial with rabbits. Because it is oil based, if there is a mass of food and fur, it will prevent moisture from getting to it, so could actually make it harder to pass if it dehydrates further. If your vet recommends it then that’s fine, just wanted to mention this for any others that read the thread.
Hydration and fiber…[Read more]

So an update: She’s still having seizures. I have’t been able to film one, because well, I’m the only one here, and It’s hard to hold her and a camera while she’s seizing. And I’m loathe to let her writhe for several minutes while I film. She had one this morning in the AM, which has never happened before.
She had a regimen of steroids whe…[Read more]

Thanks everyone for the advice! We actually just picked him up!! So far I’ve seen him drink from his bowl, eat pellets, and eat hay and pooped in the litter… so I’m happy he’s at least healthy and properly adjusting. He’s really scared of us though and mostly is in his hidey house! But basically I’m just staying quiet and watching him from afar…[Read more]

The veterinary dentist just called and told us to stop giving Hunny orbifloxacin right away, as it is likely disagreeing with her, hence the gurgling sounds we’ve been hearing. Tonight, we are to resume giving Hunny gabapentin to see if we can get her eating back on track, even if it’s just soaked pellets. When we reach that point, we are…[Read more]

That is true, littermates do vary in size, two of my girls are from the same litter, and they couldn’t be more different. Your plan sounds great. 🙂 I like to stick around when my buns eat as well, so that can also help you monitor how much food is eaten by each bun. Do you know if they are mixes? Maybe one takes after one bun…[Read more]

Hello! I have a Holland lop too and he was a little baby not too long ago! Sadly they grow up so fast😭 but slowly he has gotten so much more affectionate and cuddly. The individual personality of your bun will definitely determine how you first approach him. Wilbur for example is super sassy and energetic and was practically begging to explore as…[Read more]

Thank you for the advice 🙂 I know one day we will try to trim his nails but we need more trust. For now it will wait for the vet.

To answer your first question there isn’t enough space to have a front yard the front door is in a tricky spot for setting one up because when he comes out he comes out FAST because he is unsure of the place.
I try to let him out of his cage but he tries to get into stuff he can’t be getting into. We even bunny proofed the room but we can only do…[Read more]

I understand your situation might be tough, but that cage is much too small to be spending all day in for any real length of time (really all store-bought cages are).
Can you attach an exercise pen to the front, to make kind of a “front yard” for him to be available all the time? Or at least, use it to give him a safe area to roam in when…[Read more]

So Cute both of them! Congrats @Moonlightbunny66 ! So cute the are already all stretched out!! That’s a good sign for sure. Here is to no litter box issues.
Oh and digging the fleece, I just let Dorian do it, it seems part of his going to bed routine… his room is time so don’t really worry about it, but in the carpet area all the corners have…[Read more]

@Wick Thank you. Maybe he just peed in it then! Or some pee washed off in the water when he stepped in it.

Yellow makes me think it was peed in or the bowl has accumulated some bacteria making the water become a breeding ground very fast.

So far today, no eating or drinking from Hunny. We got 33 ml of Critical Care in her this morning, but we found out her weight has dropped from 1.38 kg to 1.35 kg (pre-dentist appointment, she was 1.4-1.43 kg). Lots of pee in the litter box, but no poop, aside from what Hunny tries to eat but can’t. I cannot be sure whether the shedding on Hunny’s…[Read more]

Welcome new, beautiful buns! That wittle white face when you offer a pellet! 🥰🥰🥰
When I buy fleece for buns I buy the cheapest I can get at IKEA or Dollarstore, because they will bite holes it and dig in it and it will need frequent laundering.

Thanks everyone for the advice!
I usually hang out with them while they eat because it’s just the time of day that I spend time with them and clean up after them, so I’m able to observe their behavior. I’ve never seen them be aggressive towards each other over food. They do get really excited for treats or their favorite fruits/veggies, so I’ll…[Read more]
