Hey there! First post, old rabbit owner. I used to raise rabbits, but fell out of it for several years, and now I’m getting my first on-my-own rabbit. He’s coming from someone who says he’s quite aggressive – I haven’t met him yet, though. However, the described behavior is mostly lunging/chasing. Lunging when you put your hands in his cage (which…[Read more]

I’ve had rabbits for the better part of 10 years. But Tater Tot is my first very VERY tiny bunny. And this question may sound dumb but I’m going to ask it anyway.
He is on a mix of Oxbow Young Rabbit and Manna Pro (what the shelter had him on) but the pellets seem too big if that makes sense. I might be overthinking this but they just look too…[Read more]

@Louiethebunny Joey makes him look like a toy. LOL. It is hilarious. Right now they are separate but have their cages by each other until Tater Tot gets neutered. He is also extremely cuddly. If I sit down at my desk to work he will stand at the end of the cage wanting to take a nap in my lap. Joey isn’t a lap bun. She’s more of a feet on the…[Read more]

It took me a while to be able to post pictures, too! π You add photos into your profile, then you click the ‘add media’ button in the corner, pick your pic and insert it into the topic. I look forward to seeing pictures of the beautiful baby! π

I tried to share the photos pinkiemarie requested, but I’m not allowed to post files, for some reason, and the links I shared instead aren’t showing up yet. Until then, here are my latest Hunny observations:
Decent-looking litter box. Attitude and pellet-eating seem a bit better without orbifloxacin. No more audible stomach gurgles. Lots of…[Read more]

elenaforrest replied to the topic Not eating enough hay? in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years ago
He is a holland lop so that’s a dwarf breed, correct? He is about a foot in length, possibly more, and maybe 4 or 5 inches wide…? His ears also don’t flop down like a lops usually would but I was told that was a birth defect. I will slowly cut back on his pellets and try a new type of hay and if the problem remains, I’ll definitely get him to…[Read more]

The cage is definitely larger than many store-bought cages. However, I have to agree that it isn’t suitable for bunny to be inside it 24/7. Bunnies need to have room to run around, jump and play.

EC can manifest in many ways. If EC is expected, you don’t necessarily need a test. Many vets will just prescribe a round of Panacur, which is fairly inexpensive. So I wouldn’t completely dismiss the EC theory. Definitely ask the vet about it!

LBJ10 replied to the topic Can my rabbit get pink eye from me? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years ago
If your conjunctivitis is caused by bacterial then the answer is maybe. But I think it would be unlikely. Just to be safe, wash your hands before touching your bunny or his things.

DanaNM replied to the topic Really bad agression after spay in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years ago
My money is on hormones. Females can go through a post-spay craze that can occur quite a while after spaying. So I would say just hang in there! Did this just start or has it been like this since her spay?
But I agree it would be good to make sure she isn’t in some sort of pain. Can you also describe her set up a bit more? And is she aggressive…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic terrified of watering can in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years ago
Who knows, haha. Rabbits can be oddly curious about and afraid about random things, similar to dogs and cats who can have their own quirks. Eventually, extinction should kick in and after realizing the watering can isn’t going to lash out and attack him, the fear reaction should settle down. Since it’s something not always in his environment, it…[Read more]

You did nothing wrong with getting her spayed! You were being a good rabbit mama and making sure that your girl did not get uterine cancer, hormonal, False pregnancies, and much more! I understand your confusion and frustration. Although, I think that hormones shouldn’t be floating around at this point. Was she this hostile right after…[Read more]
