Also keep in mind they are new and newly neutered, so it might take a few weeks for the box habits to really get sorted out. 🙂

Try to see if he is eating hay from his hay rack while not sitting in the box (it looks like he can access it from the side?). If so, that could be by he’s pooping there. If that’s the case, try to position it so he can…[Read more]

Hey there! I’m a long time lurker of BB – well, I was until I no longer had rabbits. Now that we’re getting another (which my fiance wasn’t TOO keen on at first, but … definitely better than the tegu option, and he’s excited now that the day is coming,) I decided to sign up & get involved. My name is Dove, I’m 19, and I used to show 4-H rabbits.…[Read more]

Those look pretty normal to me, so I think the larger ones are prob from ingesting extra fur. I think they are almost all very healthy looking with just one that seems a bit larger is a very good sign.

I understand the hyper-vigilance though, I had a foster with megacolon/cecal dysbiosis and it made me super paranoid about it.

    Unless your bun…[Read more]

Thanks so much for your advice @hiphopbunny!

I talked to the lady I got Louie from and she loves the speed dating idea. She was thinking of having him meet a few does. I thought that would be a good idea too. Do you have multiple buns?

I think it would be OK and prob a good idea to groom. I did this with Bonnie and Myra when they first came home because they were molting badly. I would just pop them on the table and do a really deep grooming about once a week. You can give some treats during and after and all should be forgiven. 🙂

If he is very food motivated, you also might…[Read more]

I got my two buns on Sunday and Pinky is shedding a lot. Lots of fur sticking to his blanket so I changed it today. There’s some tuffs of fur sticking up on his back if you can see on the top. He doesn’t fully trust me yet so I don’t want to brush him too soon. Its not that bad but I don’t want him ingesting too much fur. Is it okay if I wait a…[Read more]

    Hi!

So the other day my dad cut a couple branches off one of our mulberry trees that was hanging too low. I thought this would be a wonderful opportunity to dry a bunch for my future rabbit to enjoy. So I was wondering if it’s safe for rabbits to be given mulberry leaves and branches. Is there anything I have to do to them before they’re giv…[Read more]

    Hello!

I recently bought a bale of horse quality grass hay from a farm and noticed that it has some flowers, little roots, twigs and other stuff mixed in with the grass. I assume this is normal as it would be pretty tough to avoid when growing large quantities of hay. Just wanted to check if this was okay for them to have.

so, we plan to grow our own greens for our bun panini, especially since she’ll need them soon enough. however, the issue is that our cats … like to eat our plants. literally everything. they eat them and sleep in them, and we’ve tried so much repellent, like rubbing citrus oils on the pots etc. do you all have any advice for keeping our two cats…[Read more]

Hmm, my rabbit OB did something like that with certain veggies she didn’t like, she would eat them, then it would fall out of her mouth. She most definitely did not look like the rabbit in the video. Maybe she didn’t like the veggies? Or was she eating so fast that it was choking?

Aw how precious! And yeah, I know breed doesn’t determine it entirely, but I read that they’re pretty sweet. I didn’t have much of a choice on breed, to be honest – it was a pain to find a rabbit here, as I live in a state with a low population, in a small town. I’m so excited for Panini to come home, though (:

Initially we were meant to get an…[Read more]

If he is not currently going through a molt, I don’t think waiting a few days without brushing would be too bad. If you do see is fur comes off very easily though, it would be important to try so he doesn’t ingest it all. That can cause some major GI issues.

I am not experienced with short-haired agouti-dutch mix fur, so unsure how that may…[Read more]

I was using shredded pine, but I went to the vet and learned that it’s not safe and can cause respiratory problems! I feel so bad! My poor bun! I just switched him over to pelleted recycled paper and he uses it fine. Thanks for the help!

    Hi all,

We got Dandelion less than a week ago and he is still adjusting to his new surroundings. He isn’t really open to petting yet and mostly stays in his hiding box. I’ve heard/read that rabbits should be brushed once a week though. Will it set back our efforts to help him adjust if we try to brush him and it stresses him out? Should we/can we…[Read more]

Yeah, when Wilbur was young he produced a lot of cecos too but as he got older I didn’t see them as much. Now I never see them at all! I don’t really know why that happened since I didn’t change his diet, but he seems fine lol. I don’t think there’s anything to worry about!
