I think your instinct to go back a bit was good. You did progress very quickly so they prob just need a bit more time. The humping doesn’t worry me as much as the fear during zoomies.
Some bonded pairs do hump, you just need to see what happens after the fact. If it leads to a scuffle, no good. If they stay calm and it’s no big deal, then it’s…[Read more]

Thanks so much! I just wanted to know what was the normal so that I could compare it with future stools. Bunnies poop way more than I thought in one day!

I think it’s great having a bonded pair (I’ve had several at this point). The main things to consider will be housing during the bonding process (which can be as quick as a couple weeks, or as long as several months), and what you will do if they fail to bond (rare but it can happen). Having all these ducks in a row before you start will make…[Read more]

Thanks, guys! I’ll do some research as to whether the cayenne would be okay. Definitely worth trying the eggshells, though, especially with our clumsier cat… Little nuisances!! Introducing them to the rabbit will be a process too, seeing as one of our cats like to stare intently for HOURS at critters smaller than her, and wouldn’t want that to…[Read more]

Many bunnies eat the most hay at night (esp morning and evening), so you might not see too much eating during the day, but then in the morning you should notice a decent amount gone.
You might just keep an eye on them around dinner time (early evening) to see if they start tucking into their hay. Mine will get hungry around dusk and really start…[Read more]

About how much are they eating now?
If you break open a poop, it should look like it has chewed up pieces of hay in it. Just from that pic, his poops look healthy from far away.
I’ve also noticed sometimes mine eat more if I feed smaller amounts of hay and then top it up more (so top up with small amounts twice a day, vs. stuffing the hay rack…[Read more]

I have no advice other than to keep them away from the cats somehow. I will say that my cat eats all my plants… except I am growing basil right now and he leaves it alone. So maybe certain herbs would work?
Oddly enough he is also ignoring some carrot tops I’m sprouting… maybe they are growing so slowly he doesn’t notice them?

Oh yes, cat problems here, too! 🙄 What I’ve been doing is putting crushed eggshells in there, and cayenne pepper. Although I don’t know if cayenne pepper or the oils you’ve been using are okay with rabbits, though. Hopefully, someone else with more knowledge on that will respond. 🙂
Wishing you no cats in your garden! 😉

@DanaNM Thanks! Yes I see him do this sometimes. They still aren’t eating as much hay as they should be though. I’ve mixed Timothy hay and orchard grass and even sprinkled some dried dill and they still only eat a little bit. I put it in some cardboard tubes and they’ll eat it out of there but then they poop while they eat it. Should I try putti…[Read more]

Moonlightbunny66 replied to the topic When can I start grooming? in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years ago
Oh I also don’t want to scare him when I pick him up. What’s the most gentle way I can pick him up to put him on a table? Or do you think I could just put some food in front of him on the floor outside his pen and brush him? He might hop away.

@DanaNM Thank you! I keep seeing him getting fur stuck to his nose when he stops grooming and I pick it off. I’ll probably have to place some food in front of him while I brush him! I have a brush I bought for the bunnies, but we have some furminators for the cats. Would it be okay if I just sprayed it with vinegar and water then wiped it off so I…[Read more]
