Since this would be your first time bonding, I also recommend reading the “Bonding” section under the Bunny info tab, and also browsing some of the “bonding journals” that other members have posted about the process. That will help give you some baseline on the ins and outs of the whole process and the various ways things can go.
Agree with the…[Read more]

Hmmm, I’m no expert, but do you think it could be blindness? Does she seem to have trouble seeing? If she can’t see I would take her to the vet ASAP. I don’t know what else it could be, though. Keep us posted!

Each session can get shorter, or extended based on how they are doing. If you put them in there and they start getting aggressive (tails raised, ears flat) then it would be best to end it there and do some more pre-bonding. If they are doing great, then I would extend it. Or if they just don’t care for the other one, you don’t have to do a long…[Read more]

Thanks for the tips @danaNM! When Louie was a baby he had lots of brothers and sisters around and he seemed very content then. The Neutral space is such a good idea! When you first let them go in the space together how long should each little outing last?

This is off-topic but would your bun be free-roaming with your other animals? I have a friend who has had a timid rabbit die from a heart attack from a cat. If your cat is scared of the rat, I take it she isn’t much of a hunter 😆 But it all depends on the bun. There are lots of members on here who do have happily bonded cats and rabbits on…[Read more]

@Bam He looks almost identical to Wick!
I’ve unfortunately had Joey choke on pellets that were too small for her.
The Manna Pro pellets just look big compared to him I guess. He’s almost switched over to Oxbow fully now.
I was able to find some older posts about Sweet Meadow Farms and it doesn’t look like anything has changed so I am going to…[Read more]

@DanaNM It happened a few months ago, that was what landed me in the bonding process. It wasn’t a bad fight, but you could tell one had happened by the way OB was holding her ear, and the blood on it. Your concern is very appreciated though!

Not very sure about eye problems in rabbits, but it’d be good to know if there’s discharge coming from the eyes? I’m sure that info could help someone more informed than me <3

Hi Beau
It is very nice to have met you both, and welcome to BinkyBunny. 🙂 It always brings a smile to my face when a bunny gets a good home with good people. 🙂 As I told Dove, you both will have to make a post when you get her, it’s always lovely to see a new bunny on BB. 😀

hey! i joined up when @dove did, and i’m the fiance he referenced in his intro!
i’m Beau, a 21-yo nb (they/them) in North Dakota. dove and i live together with our rats, snakes, lizards, mice, cats, tarantula and soon-to-be house bunny!
i wasn’t a 4-H kid like dove was, but ive had a few rabbits anyway. we had a family rabbit, a huge angora mix,…[Read more]

the oils didnt touch the plants thankfully, only the pot rims! oils worked for a short while and then I think the cats got used to the smell.
i can’t imagine cayenne would hurt a bun, though! capsaicin (the spicy chemical) isn’t soluable in water, so it wouldnt end up in the tissues of the plant. rabbits can eat non-spicy peppers, so im pretty…[Read more]

@DanaNM I think Muffin’s poops (Muffins pen is in the photo) look like they have more hay. Which is weird because I see Pinky eating hay more often. I think they maybe eat a small handful or a little more a day. Maybe it’s just because I have a better view of Pinky right now since I have Muffin’s pen covered on one side, so they can’t see each ot…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Delayed bonding in the forum BONDING 6 years ago
I think in your case I would recommend a nice long pre-bonding period where they live as neighbors. You might not even want to do side-swaps at first, and just let them get acquainted without too much stress. Then once they seem chill with each other that way, start side swaps or litter box swaps. Once they seem pretty chill with that, start…[Read more]
