Dates 3 and 4: More or less the same, about 15 min each session. Lots of petting. Less mounting today, but some face-nipping by Bonnie which I am not a fan of. I don’t think she’s nipping hard, but I get nervous about anything around the face. Not sure why either. Myra is still just a bit frozen. Maybe that’s why Bonnie is nipping?
I suspect I’m…[Read more]

I can’t really tell, but if it is mites it is easy to treat with Revolution.
Obligatory PSA: never use Frontline or any product containing fipronil on a rabbit!

Agree with Dana. I’m sure she’d be able to hop up to different levels, they have some powerful hind feet. 😉 Definitely a spoiled bun. 🙂 Letting them out for a few hours is great, too. For me, it is so nice and peaceful to take a break and just go and sit with them. Watching a rabbit binky is one of the most beautiful things you can see.…[Read more]

Thank you!! I’ll check out the house rabbit society.
I mean it could be my one cat but he only escapes occasionally. They aren’t allowed outside for safety reasons. Maybe my dog? He’s on medication for all that kind of stuff but I guess it’s possible he carried some in. Or Pinky could’ve come home with the mites when I adopted him a few weeks ago…[Read more]

Hi Bam – thanks so much for your response. I really hope that’s it! I do feel the area of the skin and couldn’t feel anything very obvious thankfully. I’ll keep watching it for a few days and hopefully it will become more conclusive that is just molting or something else…. I’m definitely nervous about it.

Hmmm, I don’t know what ear mites look like, but my three ladies had some a while back. If they do have some, it would be my suspicion that your cats are bringing them in, that’s what my vet said was likely for my girls as well. Ear mites are extremely contagious, so if Pinky has some, then definitally treat Muffin as well. Once I got the…[Read more]

Starlightbunny: That second picture! 😀 The first time I caught one of my buns sleeping with his eyes open I just about had a heart attack. 😆
Dana: Bun Jovi sleeping like that, so funny and adorable! 🙂
HipHop: All three of your girls are so pretty, those are great pics. Silver looks stunning! *pets screen*

It’s hard to catch on camera but there is quite a lot of that greyish substance in his ear. I didn’t get to check the other ear yet.

Moonlightbunny66 replied to the topic Picky with hay in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years ago
Yeah that’s what I was thinking. I just want them to get all the nutrients they need. I’m hoping the hay from the farm feed store will be good.
I can’t seem to find where it says what cut it is on packaging from stores or online.
Thank you!

We don’t want Hunny to associate us with pain by giving her injections or traumatizing her by bringing her to the vet so they can do those injections every other day.
I understand that. But this would be a temporary situation, and if you could ask Hunny, I’m sure she would choose a few shots over dying.
I think the fear is now that my m…[Read more]

Surgery and rehoming are out of the question. I have already stated as much. With that in mind, I’ve been searching desperately for another solution. I keep coming back to this article about the penicillin: http://www.bio.miami.edu/hare/jawabscess.html
If there’s even a remote chance Hunny could benefit from injections and not be traumatized by…[Read more]

So I am taking Pinky and Muffin to the vet to get them check ups as soon as I can find a vet in my area. We’ve contacted our vet that we take our dog and cats to, to see if they know where to find a good vet for rabbits. So as I’m waiting for a response, I thought I’d show you guys this photo of Pinky’s ear. I think it may be ear mites. I looked…[Read more] -

With a piece that small, it is probably fine! Just monitor if there’s anything unusual, like no appetite or pooping.
