    Hi guys!

Tonight I will be picking up the beautiful bun I’ve been posting about recently. I’ve done a ton of research but I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for me as a new bunny owner or about how to navigate these next few weeks!

I’m so excited but also so SO nervous!

    Thanks so much guys!

A lot of rabbit owners are proponents of the Tractor Supply wood stove pellets… including me, as I have roughly 80lbs of it sitting in my clothing closet? Haha. I have had positive experiences with it. It has a slight odor when it’s been saturated… like a wood smell?.. but it’s not a bad smell and it doesn’t travel outside the box. In terms of…[Read more]

Thank you! I will see how they do with the possible ear mites then. They were the vet in town that we could find that does small animals. For the annual check ups I’ll have to look into the vets that are further away.

I assume this change from darker to light poops is because I bought Kaytee Timothy hay after I ran out of my Oxbow Timothy hay. I just wonder what in the nutrients of the hay causes this? 🤔 And does it mean he’s getting less or more or something he needs? Same thing happened with Pinky but not as dramatic as a difference, and his are typ…[Read more]

Louie and Lola live in my bedroom, (although they sometimes get to see other parts of the house) and at the end of their bonding I just had them free roam all night so if anything happened I would be there. I then moved the xpen to a slightly new spot, tossed the xpen mat in the wash, rearranged toys and wiped down the xpen with a water and…[Read more]

First of all, a rabbit doesn’t get a UTI from dandelion greens. Dandelion greens do contain calcium, but they are also a diuretic and for that reason they are often recommended to buns with kidney issues. A diuretic means the bun will pee more, the French word for dandelion is pis-en-lit, which means wet the bed 🤣

Did your vet want you to cut…[Read more]

For myself and mine I usually use Aspen wood shavings, kiln dried. They absorb some water/pee so it doesn’t need to be changed every day and have had no cases of staining or damp rabbit feet from them. Often I won’t even know there is much pee in the box until I shovel it out to change it and lo-and-behold, it’s wet underneath.

    Also never had a…[Read more]

Hi all, I use shredded paper bedding as litter for my girls but am looking to try something with better odor control for my lop, Alfred. I’ve seen recommendations for wood stove pellets and the tractor & supply sells KILN-DRIED pine wood stall pellets for horses and rabbits. Does anyone have experience with this product? I like to change the…[Read more]

If they need treatment for ear mites, this vet will probably do, but for further health checks I’d recommend you go to a rabbit vet. Non rabbit vets as a rule don’t pick up on stuff. I’ve had this experience several times when no rabbit vet has been available to me (the only one here is only open Monday-Friday).

Non-rabbit vets can miss really…[Read more]

Hello everyone, I had my dear Luna pass away about 3 weeks ago, I’m very heartbroken over it still but above all my concern lies with her bonded bun Leo. In many ways he is thriving better than I could have ever hoped, always binkying for food and zooming every morning, flops in the afternoons, no diet change, and no visible depression. From the last 8 or so years of having buns I found their digestive tracks quite resilient.

This is probably going to make me sound like a terrible bun parent but mine have nibbled the corners off foam Matts I get for their feet, a couple bags similar to the hay bags and a couple wires and base boards.

Of course we stopped it the second we caught…[Read more]

I have an appointment next week for a check up on Muffin and Pinky. I think Pinky has ear mites, they said they can treat it. But they also said they don’t specialize in rabbits, they just do general health checks on them. So if there’s anything serious they may not catch it or if they do suspect something, we have to go to a vet 20-40 minutes awa…[Read more]

It can be interesting to see how our buns behave when they do/don’t know we’re watching!

I can’t sit on the floor with my Honey Bunny while he eats because he will leave his dish and come ask for pets instead of eating. If I get up and leave he’ll go back to it and start eating again.

My girl Karou, from January to June, had huge poops. Not abnormal but really nice and big. Then she got a UTI (my fault, fed her too many dandelion greens). Since then, she’s had smaller poops. The vet recommended cutting back on her pellet food from 1 tablespoon a day to 1 teaspoon a day and also cut back on greens (She’s a mini breed prone to…[Read more]
