@NoodletheRabbit

    Thanks, I know :). She’s 6 years old so she’s way done growing and she could actually lose a little weight (the person the rescue got her from fed her unlimited young rabbit pellets- yikes!). But thanks anyways! 😀

    Sounds great! Now I don’t know how old she is, but all I know is that young rabbits are supposed to eat alfalfa hay instead of grass hay until they are 4-5 months old, so they gain proper weight:).

    You could try some 6-8 hour sessions before deciding to go for the marathon if you wanted to. I would use the same size space you are already bonding in. 🙂

    She’s got a nice big pile of grass hay in her box, some veggies and a lil bit of pellets (she didn’t have her dinner before she came, she has late meals). She’s eaten some of her pellets and some nibbles of hay and veggies. She’s also eaten some of her hay mat, which she really enjoys!

    His gut flora should establish over time with a diet of mostly hay. I agree that greens should be avoided for now. Just lots of grass hay and an alfalfa based pellet.

    Agreed, you should ask for Revolution by name to be on the safe side if it ends up being mites. 🙂

    @NoodletheRabbit

    Okay thanks!

    And indeed I am, but I believe you mean “got” 😉 .

    My post will be up in the lounge once our awesome mods check out the pics 😀

    She’s settling in quite nicely, eating, exploring her space and demanding pets already!

    Rabbits actually have very good eyesight in the dark, so no, your rabbit will not need a nightlight:). Are you the same person who is getting the new rabbit today? Please forgive me if you aren’t! 😀

    Hi.

    Weird question but I was just wondering, are rabbits okay in complete darkness or do they need a nightlight?

    Yeah, I wouldn’t be concerned. Different hay (even if it’s the same type) can cause the poo to change color.

    Just make sure the non-rabbit vet doesn’t try to use something that is unsafe for rabbits! Sometimes they just don’t know.

    I would caution against feeding greens to a bunny this young. As you know, his gut flora probably isn’t very robust yet so feeding greens could cause upset. Him being so young is not ideal, but he should be able to manage on an alfalfa-based pellet and hay.

    Haha, I haven’t been doing that long of sessions. Well, the longest I think I’ve done straight was 3-4 hours. I do multiple sessions a day though, that usually adds up to 3-4 hours though. When I do the marathon, how big should space be? Thank you for the response, all of the replies I get are really helping to make the bags that have formed under…[Read more]

Ughh the girls are kind of testy and it’s giving me doubts about my strategy. Bonnie keeps doing things that are very rude IMO (like lunging at Myra while she’s drinking so Myra choked on her water). Hmmm.

    It’s somewhat up to you. With some of my pairs, I waited until they seemed pretty much bonded before going for an overnight (supervised still). Others I actually marathoned to actually finish the bond. How long has your longest session been at this point?

    That could work. 😀 Good idea! How soon should I do a marathon? They still nip Smokey, but just now they were snuggling with her! 🙂 Thank you for your response.

    I would use the space you’ve been working with them in, but find a different flooring solution. Maybe get a big piece of plywood? You could put some cardboard on top of it as well. Since it’s temporary it wouldn’t matter if they peed on it or chewed it.

    Nothing to worry about, it’s normal. Mine get really golden poops when I give them oat hay.

    And you can just switch between grass hays, no need to slowly transition.
