my 7 month old unneutered bun is very active , always doing binky jumps and running across the rooms . But from 1.5 to 2 days it was not so active , he eats when we take food to him . suddenly yesterday my mom observed that he was falling down when trying to walk or trying to reach chairs . I immediately took him to vet, they examined his ears for…[Read more]

Bromelain and papaya do not help with stasis, and recent evidence suggests they can actually cause harm if ulcers are involved (the enzymes can aggravate intestinal irritation).
The most important things for preventing stasis and keeping the gut functioning well are fiber and hydration. How is her water consumption and hay consumption?
Other…[Read more]

Thank you so much for the help and encouragement! I am so glad that 101rabits lead me to this page!
That is pretty hilarious! But its so true I have found myself worrying about his poop more than anything else. haha

Okay, sounds good! ๐
For eating cecotropes, that is completely normal. ๐ Healthy even! There is this funny saying I heard here somewhere “Cat lovers learn about felines, and rabbit lovers learn about poop!” Nice huh? ๐
The Xpen for litter training him is great! You are doing an awesome job at caring for him! ๐

Thank you for the advice. I purchased a Small Evolution Self Clean Slicker Brush. It seems to work great! And the roller trick is awesome! Thank you, thank you!

Thank you for the responses! I have been pretty stressed thinking I am doing something wrong. Its nice to be apart of this where I can get some help so I am not just alone figuring all of this out.
His diet is Manna Pro GRO Pellets. I pretty much just make sure that he always has some since he is still growing. He also always has a mix of Timothy…[Read more]

So Poppy (2 1/2 years old, she’s the grey one) is getting over her second bout with GIS, I caught it early, but still ended up at the hated VCA as an emergency, since no other vets had any appointments soon enough, and yes, I did try them ALL, including my longtime cat vet, but she’s no longer allowed to see anything other than cats and dogs.

Oh, and about your last question about play time, that depends. Some bunnies are fine to have lots of space together right away, others do better with restricted space at first, then gradually expanded. You will prob be able to gauge based of their behavior when you move them to non-neutral (or if you let them out to play and have issues, you’ll…[Read more]

Oh my goodness they are looking so great!!! They look so relaxed around each other! Way to go! I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a bit jealous of all these easy bonds on the forum lately! LOL
I would try for a 4-6 hour session in neutral before making the jump to less neutral. You can also start in neutral, and then move to less-neutral after an…[Read more]

Is he making normal poops as well? Or are they all mushy?
My concern with a rabbit that young is that he could have coccidea. It is hard for me to tell in the picture you posted, but that looks like it could be diarrhea. Or is it mashed up cecotropes? Coccidea (a parasite) poops are very smelly and completely unformed… they smell almost like a…[Read more]

Oh, what an adorable boy you have! ๐
What this sounds like to me, is a neuter problem. Judging how old you said he was, I’m guessing he isn’t neutered. Unneutered/spayed rabbits do, unfortunately, tend to poop smelly and mushy poops outside their litterbox as a way of marking territory, so if that is the case, you will just have to bear it for…[Read more]

Hey, my 10 week old bun (Buddy), that I have had for almost 2 weeks, seems to be doing some abnormal behavior when it comes to poops and litter box training.
He I am pretty sure that he is 100% peeing in his litter box (not sure if he has peed elsewhere and I haven’t noticed it but I don’t believe so). However, he is really struggling getting his…[Read more]

Thanks DanaNM! They spent an hour and 40 minutes together today in the neutral territory. Iโm thinking of doing 3 or 4 hours tomorrow since itโs been going so well.
Yeah I wasnโt sure about my bedroom. Thatโs a good idea with the towels over the pen. Iโll probably do that in a few sessions.
Is it 48 hours in a neutral or semi-neutral space wit…[Read more]

Yeah so she actually eats really good! She got her spay this past Wednesday, but I noticed her lethargic tendancies before the spay. The vet told me she could just be adjusting to all the new stuff and she’s indesisive about how she’s feeling, being rehome twice she could be worried about that. Each owner only had her for about a year.ย The spay…[Read more]

Gotcha, yeah I’m guessing spaying and a more stable home will help a lot. Spending lots of time around her but ignoring her completely is also a good trick.
When she seems unhappy/lethargic, I’m guessing she still eats and poops normally? Just checking in case something health-related could be at play. How long ago was her spay?
My foster was…[Read more]

Before her spay she was super territoral, and had pretty bad food aggression. Other than that it seems to be pretty random. Some days she wants alllll the snuggles and other times she really just wants to be left alone and seems unhappy or lethargic. But also with all the work we’ve been doing it seems to be getting better? Most days it seems to…[Read more]
