Okay and I definitely agree she could be marking over-again but wouldn’t she pee when she’s out for playtime? Yes the pee is mostly outside of the litterbox.

I agree, it’s most likely because of the rich food. If he’s getting alfalfa pellets he doesn’t need alfalfa hay. In fact I would recommend not getting him used to alfalfa hay at all, it’s very hard to get them off of it later. 😉

@DanaNM I’m curious, what site did you find them on? I’ve been looking for them because I’m considering bonding my girl and those would be useful.

Agreed, you’ll want to reinforce with some smaller mesh until he gets bigger. Could use hardware cloth, chicken wire, or even these (my recent obsession): https://binkybunny.com/forums/topic/nose-guards/

Antibiotics can cause some gut disruption, so there might be some odd poops or gas discomfort. I think territory can still be a potential. Rabbit noses are much better than ours, and there’s even the idea of re-marking stuff obviously (chinning the same thing over and over again). Are the small frequent pees happening more outside the litter box?…[Read more]

No, she is not peeing on her self but we did take her to the vet and she gave her baytril. I don’t think it would be territorial because I put a blanket and towel she loves very much and both have been chinned lots plus toys that have also been chinned and a litter box with plenty of markings on and in it. I did not know that normal rabbit pee can…[Read more]

Hi again!! I’m a new bunny owner, we just adopted a 9 week old Holland lop. I’m probably a little more nervous about little things since he’s my first bunny lol so I had a couple questions for you all, figured I’d put them together in one post.

    1. So my bunny is getting really energetic and he will do these crazy leaps sometimes like from his cag…[Read more]

He will likely stop this once he grows to big, but you’ll have to be careful he doesn’t try to do it when he’s older and gets stuck. You could try zip tying on some chicken wire with small gaps to the pen so her won’t be able to squeeze through. He’s adorable by the way!

What has drastically declined since muh1960s is the quality of food – you’d have to eat 4 or 5 oranges today to match the nutritional value of 1 orange your grandparents ate – and what has drastically expanded is the amount of chemicals, additives, hormones, antibiotics and other such stuff that is in absolutely EVERYTHING, even water.

    Cancer is…[Read more]

She got over her nesting episode probably about a week before, and iirc, her first bout of GIS, which was over a year ago, also came on suddenly, the vet puzzled as to why. I’m guessing she’s prone to it, which means I’ll be keeping a VERY close eye on her and adjust her food to something most closely resembling a wild rabbit’s diet.

    Based on…[Read more]

Hi! We just got our first bunny, a 2 month old Holland lop named Skippy! He is so cute, playful, and smart! We have a large cage for him, but for play time + extra exercise we let him out and we like to use a foldable pen to limit his space since he is still being trained and also we like to use it in our rooms that are not carpeted since he still…[Read more]

He’s been acting pretty normal. Eating and drinking and pooping! Next time I’m gonna make sure he’s not out while I’m eating lol. Sometimes he’s really determined.

    Yay!

It is a very slow-acting med, so it often takes quite some time (weeks) before there’s any apparent improvement. Some rabbits will need a longer course of Panacur than the standard 28 days.

Thank you both for your guidance! I appreciate learning more about rabbits, especially since I’m a new rabbit owner. Hopefully Shippo and I can have a life long bonding relationship.

Rabbit’s don’t really acknowledge “family units”. Mothers will try to mate with sons, siblings will mate with each other… so the concept of family is not really registered as how “typical” humans may think of it. There’s a reason why, in order to bond two rabbits, you need to fix both and spend potentially at least a month systematically…[Read more]
